The Leafs simply need more heart and grit if they want to beat Boston in the playoffs let alone beat CBJ who are stacked on D with Jones and Werenski

Adding washed up players and third liners while getting rid of top end two-way talent is not the way to do it. They arent trading Marner or Nylander or Robertson or Rielly.. they just arent. They have heart and they have grit.

**** games happen to every single team in the NHL. Heart and grit showed in a way of them making playoffs in top-3 of their division despite injuries, coaching change and other shenanigans along the way. Who is washed up? Doughty, Vlasic. Risto is not good, Murray had ****ty season.. also why even swap more gritty and tough prospect for less gritty and tough prospect?

According to my friend, teal, who is very in to analytics and programmed a grit/60 stat, Leason was a top 10 grit prospect in last years draft while Robertson was in the 30s. Doughty not good? then how come NHL players themselves voted him as being so good? do you know more than them?. Vlasic is simply an elite shutdown DFD, and Risto is tall and whatnot. And he did that double check once which was cool.

I would like to see that grit/60 stat because as a scout I absolutely disagree with that. NHL players also vote Price as best goalie in the league which is another bullcrap. Doughty has **** contract and played like **** last two seasons. If you are so into analytics, you should look his stats up. Vlasic is washed up and he used to be elite shutdown DFD, but now he is on level of Seabrook bad. Risto is tall and absolute crap defensively.

First off, these trades are awful. Secondly, you did this in the 2019-20 season where half the players you traded for are UFAs/RFAs and would need new and larger contracts so Leafs would end up being over the cap.
You traded the best defenseman on the team on an unreal contract for basically a 1st.
You traded our team MVP goalie for Matt Murray who sucked this season and is going to want as much as Freddy makes if not more, traded away one of the best centre prospects and a 2nd for Teddy Blueger who you have as the 5th centre.
You talk about adding heart and grit then trade one of the most grit and heart filled players on the team in Kapanen.
Leafs are stuck paying a 33 year old Vlasic $5M until hes 40 and a 30 year old Doughty $10.5M until hes 38.
You traded the Leafs best 2 wingers and best forward prospect and got no one close to their skill in return.
Lots of questionable moves here, don't know if you're just trolling Leafs fans or what

The only analytic I am into is that and my own eyes. hockey is played on ice not a spreadsheet. Glad we could agree on Risto being tall, finding middle ground is important.
