He won't take a paycut. This is about right for AAV. Term may be too long

I honestly think he will, his play has declined and add that to a flat cap? he makes less than he is now.

I doubt it. He's been given top 4 minutes on a fringe top 4 team in the league because Brind'amour is an idiot. Someone will pay him that or more. It's a flat cap, but teams have cap space. Plus there's no confirmation it'll be a flat cap yet.

I think we can all agree that Demelo is better than Edmundson or at least I feel that way. I get that Demelo might take a discount to play with Morrisey, but not that much of a discount and defiantly not if Edmundson gets 1.5 more than him.
Demelo is gonna have a lot of suiters if he hits the open market, jets need to lock him down ASAP

Probably, some stupid team will give him $3M+ on a 3-4Y deal. Maybe if he's used properly, he can be worth $3M for a year but expect him in the top5 of bad 2020 contracts

I guarantee he gets that money somewhere. He's a serviceable defensemen and still young. Teams always overpay for UFA dmen

So he plays top 4 minutes on one of the best teams in the NHL and his coach is an idiot for this? not sure that logic tracks

He got top 4 minutes over van Riemsdyk, Gardiner, Fleury, Skjei. He got top 4 minutes and was a constant liability. He was part of the reason they didn't finish higher in the standings.

Doesn't mean that you get x minutes that you're necessarily that good. See Rasmus Ristolainen. Quality > Quantity. And not sure which team was the reference for " one of the best teams in the NHL " because if it's CAR, they aren't. If it's STL, he was good ('16-18)

stastically CAR is one of the best teams in the NHL and a cup contender.
All I am saying is the guy is playing top 4 minutes for a really good team and there are other options out there the coach has, yet he sees this as working and he's right

Well, we probably don't have the same definition of best teams/cup contender/really good team then
