I would not give up this year's 1st for Hertl unless we drop back a few spots because of the lottery. Having his 3rd knee surgery in 7 years and missing 1/2 of 3 seasons because of the injuries would be risky. When healthy he's great, but you have to wonder if he's going to slow down from the damage to his knees. Also, only two years left before he needs a new/ bigger contract. Building for the long term with the pick is a better idea. Besides, pretty sure we're not on his 3 team trade list.
Not adding a 2nd in the JP trade. A 2nd or TT. If they want a 6th or 7th, then perhaps. Edm is dealing a guy that they don't want and that doesn't want to play there. That should lower the return a bit.
Would rather sign a guy like Dillon than resign Montour. Don't want to ask a RD to play LD again.
