If I’m the GM of the Sharks my first question is seriously? No really? Get out.

Since this is all hypothetical and we really have no idea what the ask is for certain players, what's better to Sabres fans to fill the hole at 2C, trading the 2020 1st for Domi and signing him to a long term deal or trading the 2020 1st for two seasons of Hertl?

That's honestly a pretty good team - maybe not playoffs, but a bubble team. You could potentially trade Hutton to STL in a deal for Allen as I could see a fit there for both teams.

Well most people have agreed that this trade is good in value for most teams or at least close. The question is if San Jose is rebuilding or not.

thanks ! That's what I brought, Domi vs BUF 2020 1st rd pick
Buffalo can sign Domi to a 6-7 years deal around 6M
When Cozens is REALLY READY to play 2C, move Domi to the wing
MTL take a step back, but getting two top 10 picks in their rebuilt is good
Hertl had 1 season over 70 points, the others more 45 points
Domi had 1 season over 70 points, the others more 50 points
Hertl got 2 years, if he leaves after 2 years, it will be hard on the Sabres

I know Hertl > Domi, but having 2 years of Hertl for a bigger price than 6 years of Domi for a lower price

Yes I agree, I think that'd be a much better move for the Sabres if it's possible, Hertl is great but there's not enough term left on his deal to make it worth parting with an early 1st for.

A smart GM would always try to extract the most long term value if/when trading a 1st round pick even a late 1st, it's laughable that Brisebois traded the equivalent of three 1st round picks for a couple very average bottom 6 players.

Brisebois did a poor job IMO since he's GM, Gourde signing, Coburn extention, Coleman/Goodrow trades ….

IMO Mittlestadt is a borderline bust. He hasn’t even established any role in the NHL and even if San Jose is rebuilding Hertl and Meier are pieces you build around.
