Honestly don’t see why not. DeBrincat would be a good addition to your top 6 and you guys are pretty well set with Graves and Girard.

Byram is not trade currency thats why. You dont trade your top prospect and one of the top prospects in the entire NHL for someone who would your 5th best forward,

And Graves does not make Byram expendable,

I would easily take out Jost and add a depth forward if that would be better. Also, if DeBrincat is your 5th best forward, you are set.

Only way Avs are moving Byram is if they trade for a superstar, someone like Eichel. Even then, they'll do everything in their power to keep Byram, he's one of the best defensive prospects in recent memory.

So I guess Dahlin or Hughes forgoes your recent memory.

Depends what's coming back. Top NHL players don't grow on trees but top prospects who never reach their ceilings do.

MacKinnon, Makar, Rantanen, Byram, Newhook, Girard

That’s Avs core for the next 10 yrs. Not trading Byram for a guy that would be on the 2nd line and 2nd PP unit. Chicago has their chance and passed.

Easy no for Colorado.

Don't tag me anymore, all you do is try and pick fights on here and it gets old fast. If you actually read what I said instead of instantly disagreeing with every post you'd see it says "one of the best defensive prospects in recent memory", the others being Hughes and Makar, Dahlin I guess but he made the jump right away so he was never really the prospect of a team.

God damn, sometimes I forget how much my fellow hawks think byram is a bust. Sorry Avs fans. Ain’t no way debrincat gets byram, byram is still the Avs best prospect Next to Newhook and easily a top 3 prospect in the league. Why trade that?!

Respect. That’s a great core. No need to trade a stud like byram, I’m still pissed we passed on him. Burnaby Joe has really brought this team back to contender status.

Also, quick question. I noticed landeskog wasn’t in your core. Was that due to his age or just the thought that he won’t be around in the next 5 years or so?

Well, I ain’t gonna pick a fight, promise. Colorado has a sick team core for the future. I love that they are sticking to the draft picks and not trading key pieces. Byram is gonna be a huge part of that. Also, agreed on dahlin, he was never really a prospect. Makar and Hughes are by far the closet comparisons to byram. Stay the course Burnaby Joe, you’ve done great work!

Tag you? You mean respond to you? Not sure what tagging is.

Clearly I don't disagree with every post I see nor even coming close to responding....I respond to posts I don't agree with and give a thumbs up to one's I really do. If you want to cry because that hurts your feelings, you can block my comments kid.

We'll see, we obviously know more about Hughes, Makar, Dahlin, Boquist, Dobson, Bouchard...just looking at the last 3 years. If Byram was drafted the year prior, it's hard to say where in that 2018 group he would have fell.

Tag me, quote me, respond to me... Don't need to be a smart ass buddy. Not crying, just not interested in conversing with someone that likes to not fully read comments and make uneducated and untrue points. Thanks for listening

Oh I know buddy, no worries! Everyone on this site gets a little intense at times. Either way, on the topic of hockey, the Avs got a great team of the future. Getting byram in the draft followed by Newhook were huge. This core is, girard excluded, made through the draft. That’s hard but it is the right to do it.

Colorados the only team in the league thats been able to build themselves like this. Its really impressive what Sakic has been able to do. I remember the year they sucked everyone was saying Sakic shouldn't be a GM but look at em now

It's not such a crazy proposal.

Value-wise a 2nd on its own is not enough to offset the value difference between Byram/DeBrincat, particularly as Jost is worth more than just a 2nd on his own (i.e. 2nd + 3rd), so I think the add would need to be more than just a 2nd to balance the trade. Or just take Jost out completely.

Byram is still only a prospect, whereas DeBrincat is a young 40 goal scorer signed at a good $6.4m caphit until 2023. That said, Byram plays the significantly more important position and is much harder to replace, so I don't think Colorado does this. If a trade involving DeBrincat were to happen it would be more suitable to include Newhook+ instead of Byram, but then that doesn't really make sense for Chicago as they'd be better off sticking with the proven asset.
