ARI
  1. Burns, Brent ($1,750,000 retained)
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
It's the Sharks' last chance of trading Burns and getting something pretty big for it... basically they get a bottom pairing d-man who can contribute offensively (that way he could replace some of the offense left behind by Burns), they get a C+ prospect in Steenbergen, a 1st rounder but move down in 2021

They still get 2 picks back and we all know what SJ will do with mid/late picks, they'll draft top-4 d-men and top-6 forwards so nothing to worry about here

I think it is good. If I’m the sharks, rebuilding is the way to go.

Well I mean 100% rebuilding is hard to do because either Vlasic or EK would be traded in such a scenario but SJ wouldn't be able to move either of them

It should. The sharks suck and aren’t getting better.

This team was in the conference finals last year and to be honest if Karlsson, Pavelski and Hertl we're healthy back then, the Blues would not have won the cup.

I don't think there was anything stopping the Blues last season honestly.
And I cheered for you guys...

I will disagree. For two months that season Karlsson was one of the best players in the league until injured. When he was playing like that, the Sharks we're unstoppable.

I know. In the cf, I wanted the sharks to win. Not sure what I was thinking. Now I much prefer the blues. You could say the sharks are the worst in the league.

Correct but STL also was unstoppable last year in the playoffs...

Binnington was elite, their d-core led by Petro and Parayko was as good as yours and their offense was clutch (Schwartz scoring a few seconds before game 5 ended against WIN, Maroon scoring in OT in game 7 against DAL...)

They need a rebuild but this extended offseason is probably gonna benefit the sharks more then any other team.

They will give it another shot next year at least and then go from there

Yeah I'd much rather be Yzerman than Wilson at least DET has cap flexibility and a ton of prospect and likely one of Lafrenière, Byfield or Stutzle...

Fair point however it's their last chance to move Burns and to have something very good for him so they shouldn't miss that chance IMO...

I said they might be, and for a couple reasons. They are old, the got 3rd last place, and there too pick this year is projected 29th right now. Not exactly a good team.

It might seem like a good idea to go for it, but I think the better option would be rebuild. I agree it won’t happen though. All in is more appealing.

Except when you realize they dob't have much cap room to improve the offensive depth unless they weaken the G even more by letting Dell walk and by making Melchinuk the backup

I'm just saying Doug has said he expects the team to contend next year. Not saying it's the right or wrong decision, just saying that's what is expected to happen. He's done it before so I think he can do it again.

Except he now has 26,5 mil locked up in 3 declining d-men

I realize this and I agree. But I am just saying that you guys are in a horrible situation. No cap space, no good prospects or picks, and your roster is crap at the moment. Couldn’t win anything.
