His value is more than points, but age/salary/only 60-68 games a year/his reputation might make him a difficult trade is years to come.

Wilson is 5.2mil a year for 40-45 pts on the 1st line, I think his game has more value than say a JVR, who's 7mil and 45-50 pts on the 3rd line. But if Philly offered JVR and a 2nd or even their late 1st, after this season, you're getting close to value.

Maybe Kerfoot from TOR, Bennett and a 2nd from CGY, something like that. Wilson is blessed with 1st line time for some production, but hes more important for his intangibles, but those wont last or garner 5.2mil in time.

How about kerfoot, Mikheyev and a 2nd?

They should not trade him at all. But for the conversation, 1st rounder and a solid prospect. Should be similar to Zucker's return IMO.

Not a lot of players can play the role he does and produce at the same time.

I would give you Montour and the Sabres 2021 first, especially if you throw in Oshie, but dont Wilson alone, Montour and 2021 1st lets say top 5 protected for S&G

But why? I'd wager Kerfoot and Mikheyev both have a great impact than Wilson. He's just a folk hero. At 5.2 million you can get 2 guys who do what he does for less.

He'd be a nice fit on the Avs 2nd line. Maybe we could roll with Landeskog-Kadri-Wilson and have the most hated line in hockey squinty smile

How about Wilson for COL 2021 1st + B prospect*?

(*any prospect not named Byram/Newhook/Timmins/Kaut/Bowers/Annunen)

As a lot are saying he won't be moved unless the package in return is amazing. He's a unicorn, no one is like him in the league. But for argument, say he isn't a unicorn; a 50+ point player that gets little PP time and is great on the PK, that's only 26. I guess a 1st+a good prospect.

Wilson would cost you one of those guys.....think about it. you need to give up something you would hate to lose to get wilson

i wouldn't trade wilson for Nylander but if i had to it would start with Nylander from Toronto. Wilson is such a rare player. i highly doubt he ever leaves Washington.

okay... name a 50 point player that is also top 5 in hits penalty minutes (fighting majors) and can keep up with elite talent in the league? wilson is a deterrent that also can play on the 1st line. imagine Reeves if he could actually skate and shoot? or imagine Nylander that can hit and fight? now you realize why wilson is rare. weird i have to explain his value to a capitals fan

On second thought I probably did underestimate it a bit.

How about Wilson for 2021 COL 1st + Jost + Beaucage (or other non-top-5 prospect)?

Sakic doesn't trade 1st's and that's a prime piece that hurts to move, along with Jost who is a cheap roster player with 2nd line upside.

to be complete honest capitals have a lot of solid prospects... McMichael and Protas then they have Alexeyev and a few other solid d prospects. Capitals really don't need much besides RHD prospects but I would rather trade Kuzy than Wilson. Wilson is just the type of player coaches/ organizations love. plays hard every night and is a team first guy. caps want to win right now bc this is their best chance with this group of guys. prospects do nothing bc once Ovi is gone id rather suck than be a bubble team.

I completely agree. It doesn't make sense for Caps to trade Wilson at this stage while they're still a contender.

people only look at stats (im guilty of it a lot) but Wilson is the capitals best PK guy and plays on the top line. he adds some much need defense to the capitals

Clifford and almost anyone else. Wilson is so overrated. He's worth 2.5 million tops but is a folk hero to people who like violence.

Of course I know his value, that's why I said there's no way he would ever be traded and that he's a unicorn.

He is only 26, he's got atleast another 5-6 years with his playing style.

One of the reasons he's so good is the cap teams really starts to jump when they pound on other players. His physicality is litterally 1/2 the team. If he isn't on WSH they probably a 500 team. I'm not ****ting on that either. Anyone who watches this team knows that. He puts teams in a shell and changes momentum for the caps often.

He's probably in their top 3 players. No way they trade him. He impacts the team more than Backstrome, or Kuzy. Could care less about the points.

The only issues with him are suspensions, he has tried to clean up but damn he's a jackass. It's like he's too dumb to figure it out. Punched in the head one too many times.
Eventually he'll get dinged again. You can almost bet on it.

The other is injury. But he's only 26.

I think his value is probably 2 1st and a prospect. To any team with playoff aspirations.
You aren't going to find a RW like that anywhere else.
