I don't see a proposal beating the 7th overall pick for Hertl

I find it comical anyone is even trying. He isn't going to get moved and theres not even a remote chance.

How about this. Hertl is our Zibby. So when you think about trading him treat it how you would trade him

Good, a player as hurt as often as he is, is not worth the 7th overall pick.

If I was in your position I would hate to lose to free agency a lot more don't you agree? with all those contracts tied up as well?

Hertl is a fan favorite who loves the city and the team. Very unlikely he leaves IMO.

I could agree but could the team still contend with so many hefty contracts?

I firmly believe San Jose should blow it up. You could get serious assets for Hertl, Labanc, Karlsson etc

Maybe. Id say we would have to be very lucky to get anything back as good as them though. Sharks arent really a bad team at its core. Once the coaching change happened and pre Hertl-Karlsson-Couture injuries they were winning and playing good.

Yes there are hefty contracts. So please explain to me why we move one of the best contracts on the team? It makes no sense. We had a bad year. I would not be surprised to see this team with a couple of small tweaks in the playoffs next year.

Hertl is the fan favorite in SJ. He’s what Gallagher is to Montreal, Zibanejad to NYR etc. I value him highly because I have seen him play when healthy and he is a game breaker. He loves SJ and he is a big part of the organization and will be for many years to come. For someone that does so many SJ acgm’s I would think you would know what Hertl means to SJ fans. Considering you don’t even have SJ listed as your 2nd favorite team I think it’s a little odd that you know so little about the team but do a new sharks post every day lol

For the casual fans especially he’s huge. You have to understand SJ is not a traditional hockey market and the reason they are able to draw in people is continued winning and playoffs. If the sharks rebuild its going to do some terrible things to revenue and the organization in general

SJS wasn't near as bad as their record last year. Their goalies killed them. Dell isn't bad for a backup that plays limited games, but Jones was just awful. Give them a decent goalie and they are right back where they always are 3rd in the Division and in the Playoffs.

This is the main point all the rebuilders should focus on. Plattner doesnt fire Wilson because Wilson is not a rebuild GM. All the big contracts signed are fan favorites that sell tickets. Wilson is committed to the playoffs every offseason and he will likely never rebuild only retool. The Sharks core is very determined to be in the playoffs next year, they feed off negative press and always have. No cup yet but when they get into the playoffs they are very dangerous and exciting every year hence only Pittsburgh has more playoff wins in the last 20 years. I can't blame @Kakko_to_New_York for thinking the sharks need a rebuild but when you have watched this team as intently as I have you would know that last year was a fluke and very unlikely to happen again. New goaltending and adding a new top six rw and this team is right back in it. return to form for Karlsson, Burns, Vlasic, Meier and Labanc and honestly this is a top 3 team in the west.

Our prospect pool is not incredible but there are some potentially excellent middle six players in there with Chmelevski, Leonard, Chekhovich and Spiridonov. Merkley, despite all the doubters has improved his defensive game dramtically year to year still putting up elite offensive numbers, once Sommer gets a hold of him for a year I think he will be a top 4 elite offensive dman for many years in SJ. There are diamonds in the rough as well with Kniazev and Hattaka.

If you have seen Hertl play outside of his highlight reel you would see a strong, big, aggressive two-way pivot with top 25 skill and strong finish. he doesnt have a lazy shift and even though he is younger he is already a leader on a team full of veterans, that says a lot about his character. If he is moved it will be for an overpayment and will benefit the Sharks way more than the team trading for him - hence he isn't being shopped.

So this rebuild you can talk about all you want but it is not happening this year or anytime soon, if at all. the team will always change a little here and there and evolve constantly but a rebuild won't happen and with Wilson at the helm, won't be necessary. You will see.
