Bos - 8 players, CBJ - 6 players, TML - 6 players.

Even in comparison to some of the other combined teams Ive made, I would still rank this one highly. Top 6 six is dynamite (and yes Bjorkstrand deserves to be there, he's dominant at even strength) and has a nice balance of two ability, goal scoring and playmaking. Having PLD as a 3rd line centre is amazing and would work fantastic with Kase and Soup on the wings. 4th line is all about strong defensive ability & PK work.

Defense isn't quite as nice as the offense but the Jones-Mcavoy pairing is top notch. Rask and Elvis in net is fantastic.

Debrusk > Bjork

Was debating bringing him on for that 3rd LW spot. But I think Mikheyev is simply the superior cost-efficient option. As for Bjork, this lineup needs some players to play PK, and I like to make teams where top-line players don't have to fill in. Thus, Bjork being cheaper, a very strong defensive player & a solid PKer was the reason for me keeping him there

Sandin > Dermott

Definitely not. The Sandin hype is way overblown. Dermot is a very good shot suppressor despite what the media might make you believe. Sandin has potential, but a long way to go.

Pick any other RW and you have a better RW then Anderson this season....

You could also switch Werenski and Jones as Werenski had a better season this year.

Yea but Anderson is only one year removed from playing quite well so I haven't given up on him yet. I like his play style a lot. Also one of the best PKers in the league.

and I'm pretty meh about Werenski. He's simply not great in his own end and I don't think the offensive boost is enough to make me want to take him over Jones.

CBJ has the best defense core of these 3 teams, you took 1 guy.
TOR has the worst you took 3.

I have no words for such "logic"

Cool team!!

Would have to also say debrusk > bjork if u r gonna do a bruins guy there (which makes sense)

But my question is: why the lines like that? Might as well have the better RW on the first line and then stick Bergy with them for the hell of it

Well this is taking individual players not the whole team defense. Muzzin is objectively one of the best six defensemen on these three teams so that's not controversial at all.
As for the other two, you have to remember that this is including the salary cap. If there is no cap would I have taken Torey Krug over Tyson Barrie and Ryan Murray over Travis Dermott? Yeah I probably would. But that would've costed me way more in salary than would be worth it. Travis Dermott is excellent at shot suppression and Tyson Barrie is one year removed from playing 25 minutes a night and leading the Avs blueline. Furthermore, for my money, Barrie is the best powerplay quarterback for all three teams, regardless of salary.

Thus, I agree that it might look odd that I have 3 leafs on my blueline, but there's strong rationale for each one. Especially considering Barrie + Dermott cost me roughly 3.5 Million combined.

Ultimately, you could make your own team and not take any Leafs defensemen, but that's your opinion. I don't think there's necessarily anything objectively wrong with the way Ive constructed the blueline.

I was trying to keep one goal scorer/shoot first player per line. Matthews and Pasta being the guys that fill that role.

You are probably going to disagree with me here, but I prefer Matthews to Bergeron.

As a result, I keep Matthews up top and put Marner with him, versus bringing both Pasta and Matthews on the same line. Tbh, the top 6 or this team is relatively interchangeable from a coaching perspective. The Bergeron line could easily be #1, especially if you switch Bjorkstrand and Marchand.

Don’t worry man I don’t! Also not a bruins fan tho

Matthews has overtaken bergy (though he is good), but I just figured might as well keep Marchy and pasta on the top line as the best two players on the team, but then Bergy could just stay with them, but you do you man!!

Gavrikov and Peeke, are both better than that bottom pair and cost less than Barrie combined

Maybe I could switch some money around to put Gavrikov in over Dermott, but its not a big upgrade. Peeke is total nonsense though. Hes played 22 NHL games and hasn't been a significant factor in any area.

Peeke played 22 games as a rookie on a team with an absolutely stacked blue line.
That really says enough in itself. It's not like there is much room on that blue line for a rookie to just jump in. He's behind Jones, Savard and Nutivaara. But he is as advertised and CBJ fans know that.
Barrie on the other hand has not had a good year.
