And before you blast me for trading for Jordie Benn, he's really not that bad of a 3rd pairing defenseman. Besides his time in VAN...which...yikes.

Don't see why Chicago does that. Also seems really high for a TVR contract. You can probably chop that in half.

I'm not convinced that Matt Murray's history says he's going to be the guy that can consistently be the #1 starter. 2016 good year, 2017 bad year, 2018 good year, 2019 bad year. None of us know how well he'll play in 2020. We can guess, but we don't know. What we all do know...he's going to want relatively big money because he has 2 cups which is really good. I'm not willing to give up a whole lot (at all quite frankly) for a goalie (not a ton of trade value in general)...that's going to want relatively big money...and I can't say he's better than Corey Crawford...IN FACT...

Speaking about Corey Crawford... He was FAR better than Murray last year. Like Night and Day. Corey 100% can't play 55+ games a year, but the Hawks don't need him to be that. They need him to play a tandem role and save him for the playoffs. He was Literally the best goalie in the ENTIRE NHL when it came to high danger situations. Link Below. He's still a REALLY good goalie. I'd prefer to give away ZERO assets and extend Crow to a 2 year deal. I'd certainly draft a goalie this year for sure. They do need to stock their system, but to the point...I just don't think Matt Murray is the solution for the long term.

Swap murray for Jarry and the hawks consider. But this deal is a big no. The value is probably fine, but the hawks don't need murray. I don't care that he won 2 stanley cups, the hawks won a cup with Niemi. If we are going to trade for a goalie, it needs to be a good one. And i'm not convinced that murray is all that good. Would much rather just stick with Crow for a few more years

My thoughts are even more harsh than this. Where does the cap come from to sign Murray? Are we just going to let Crow walk? The answer is No to that second question. He's said he still wants to play. I just don't see the Hawks being a good fit...to TRADE...for another goalie...ANY other goalie. Sign Talbot or Markstrom or Greiss or any other VET that understands its a tandem system. Those VETs are looking for ice time and their more likely to get it in a tandem system vs a backup role. if they play well on a 1 year deal...next year that goalie can try to get the big money they really want.

    Strome, 3rd, 5th for Murray, Rodrigues, 2nd

    Offense only:
    Strome: 0.66G/60, 2.30P/60
Sheary: 0.57G/60. 2.30p/60 (as a Pen this year)
Kahun: 0.80G/60, 2.31P/60 (as a Pen this year)

A 3C that is not defensive, not physical, and not good at faceoffs is not ideal. Remove all the picks and it is still a Chicago win, but passable.
