PART 1- 2019-2020 PITTSBURGH PENS - Voiding AND Fixing the Deadline Trades

Created by: Sidstick87
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: May 30, 2020
Published: Jun. 6, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

I hope, I'm wrong and Hope that - Sheary / Marleau do great in Playoffs & we win Cup w/ them or even bc of them & they prove me wrong BUT....
I would have NOT traded for those 2 players & still don't like those deals.

*** PART 1 - VOIDING THE [2 - TRADES] w/ BUFFALO & SAN JOSE & MAKING NEW [BETTER] TRADES w/ WPG - ANA - BUF - INSTEAD bf 19'-20' TRADE DEADLINE ***

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Pre-DEADLINE - TRADES -

WINNIPEG JETS TRADE :
~ Only reason this could have happened was bc the Jets were looking for a #2 able Center to replace B. Little & by trading for BJUGSTAD (if he stayed healthy) could have offered more offense than Lowry.
* LOWRY having a down yr but this could have been a buy low type scenario for Pens.
- DeSMITH would have been a better back-up in WPG than Brossiot
- Comrie is a young Goalie that could be a steal?

ANAHEIM DUCKS TRADE :
* I will always wonder why we gave Kahun away in that BUF Trade but IMO - KAHUN had much more value than Sheary / E-Rod.
+ Ducks get a younger player in Kahun, Pens 2nd best Prospect in Legare & a 2nd Rdr in 21'.
~ RAKELL has been a fav of mine for yrs & after 2 avg seasons - Pens could have stolen #67 from ANA & Needed that RH- RWer on Top PP (Kessel Spot) & really could have used another
"Puck-Entry" guy other than Geno on PP too. PLUS - Rakell is a RH - Jake Guentzel w/ the way he thinks the game but w/ a better shot.
- STOLARZ is a better than avg #3 Goalie

DEADLINE DAY TRADE-

BUFFALO SABRES TRADE :
- McCABE is a Penguin type D-man & always thought he would thrive around better players. + makes J.Johnson the #7 this way.
- E-ROD has done good here in short time here.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Kahun, Dominik
Additional Details:
** TRADE NEVER HAPPENS **

[Kahun had more value, IMO]
BUF
  1. Sheary, Conor
Additional Details:
2. RODRIGUES, Evan
2.
PIT
  1. 2021 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
~ Marleau hasn't impressed me at all, I HOPE I'm wrong & #12 breaks out in playoffs but would have gone in different direction.
SJS
  1. Marleau, Patrick
Additional Details:
** TRADE NEVER HAPPENS **
3.
PIT
  1. Comrie, Eric
  2. Lowry, Adam
Additional Details:
~ LOWRY has had a down yr & is a 3rd - 4th line type Center but the Pens really could have used his size, face-off, & PK ability.
~ COMRIE is a solid young Goalie, could be a steal here?
WPG
  1. Bjugstad, Nick
  2. DeSmith, Casey
Additional Details:
~ BJUGSTAD was just getting healthy at deadline & even tho Juggs is a much better player than Lowry .... at least we could of moved him for something we could have used for playoff's.
~ DeSMITH is a good back-up still (even tho in AHL) but w/ Brossoit struggling this yr, DeSmith could be the better back-up.
4.
PIT
  1. Rakell, Rickard
  2. Stolarz, Anthony
  3. 2021 5th round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
~ RAKELL has had 2 average seasons but IMO this is what #67 needs to get back to that 34G / 69P mark again & playing w/ #87 or #71 should help too.
- STOLARZ is a solid #3 Goalie w/ NHL time & NHL starts.
ANA
  1. Kahun, Dominik
  2. Légaré, Nathan
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
- KAHUN had much more value than the BUF trade, IMO. + is 3 yrs younger than Rakell & could be nice young piece in ANA for a while w/ their young core.
- LEGARE - a powerful RWer & Pens 2nd best Prospect - (kills me to trade him)
5.
PIT
  1. McCabe, Jake ($1,425,000 retained)
Additional Details:
2. RODRIGUES, Evan (E-Rod)

~ McCABE is a good LHD that has been stuck on a bad team for too long. + Played w/ #4 in Wisconsin for a yr.
~ E-ROD has impressed me the short time in PIT. Very versatile #13 forward.
BUF
  1. Miletic, Sam
  2. Riikola, Juuso
  3. 2020 5th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
* All BUF fans trade McCabe for a 3rd to a 6th Rd Pick.
(Figured - Miletic + a 5th was fair for McCabe + Ret.)

- RIIKOLA is prob a 3rd pairing LHD that can play both sides equally as good, that never got a fair chance in PIT.
- MILETIC - brought to PIT by GMJB and after another good AHL yr, should get NHL time next yr.

Yes, Kahun should have gotten more in return... That doesn't mean ANA wants him, again, they're last need is middle 6 forwards (both Kahun and Legare)

The Rakell deal has to include a 1st from PIT--that's just the price.
BUF wants a bit more but the WPG deal is fine.
I agree--I hope Marleau/Sheary do great and win the cup--and I still hope we don't resign either.

Old man Marleau as a now 3rd/4th line center or wing gives you a strong 2 way player who still has speed and will provide secondary scoring and give you the ability to place anywhere in the lineup in the playoffs 1st - 4th line he will hold his own.
He’s not the top line stud he was 3/4 years ago but he still has talent and he’s a good insurance for this playoff run! Go win the cup and let old man Marleau get his name on lord Stanley finnaly!

every penguins fan is wondering where all this "speed" is from Marleau .
Maybe on the slow as hell SJS team he looked fast. The same team that had to melt the ice to try to slow the penguins down and still got blown up. But he has looked every bit his age here.

He doesn’t play full throttle he is a very observant player, he turns on the jets when he needs to I.E. back checking and off man rushes, again he is a shell of the player he was 3-4 years ago but then again 3-4 years ago you’d have paid a top prospect and a first for him! The way he plays drives fans crazy until you see him not on your team then you miss the little things he does every game that make a difference.

He doesn’t play full throttle...... Yeah that's an understatement.

Wait for him to score a overtime goal or a series clinching goal in the playoffs there is a reason he’s a fan favorite in San Jose and was in Toronto as well

That Winnipeg trade is terrible for them. Total rip off.
Why are u adding Erod in trade back to Buffalo.....that’s no where near value for McCabe, especially with rentention

Also they were never making that many moves with the team playing so well at the time

The WPG trade would have happened when Juggs was healthy & they needed a Center w/ more offense ... If Juggs would have stayed healthy he is a much better player than Lowry (who has been bad this yr)
& Brossoit has been bad as a back-up so Desmith could have helped... I dont get the Rip off of a #2-#3 C/ Top 6 RWer (IF HEALTHY) for a #3-#4 C/ bottom 6 LW ? and a back-up for a guy thats been on waivers 2 times this yr
