RD swap with ARZ and TOR

Created by: BluesBandit
Team: 2020-21 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 6, 2020
Published: Jun. 6, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don’t think BUF fans are very high on TT so they may be willing to send him back to get a good 3C who can take the D-zone draws while Eichel and Cozens get the O-Zone starts. DLR is a solid 4th liner.

Arizona does this deal because Hjal, Demers, and Goligoski are all out of contracts next season, freeing up tons of cap but leaving them with few viable NHL defensemen. Faulk would feature as the 1RHD and get much more ice time than he would in STL.

Toronto decides to try to win before having to move any of their core. The get a defensive minded RD with cup experience at 2.5. Different Toronto fans have different opinions on Lilj but I think he would have a future as a great 3RD and PP specialist on the Blues, learning under two of the best RDs in the league. Him and Perunovich get top line minutes in Springfield.

ARI would probably look to move one of their RDs in order to create cap space for Hall, not in order to replace one of them with something quite likely to be a veeery bad contract

Sabres fans are extremely high on TT... They still think he has top 6 potential...

No way from ARZ, Faulk was just bad in STL (on the bottom pair ig...?) Imagine that on the top pair 😬😬😬 not to mention that extension is quickly (an predicably) shaping up to be one of the worst contracts in the league

Nahhhhhhhhhh, you don't get to give Faulk a $45.5M contract over 7 years and then get rid of him before that contract kicks in. The Blues made their bed, now they have to lie in it.

I dont get their obsession of Thompson at all. It seems weird that the love a guy who was the 4th worst forward in the nhl in his 1st season with buffalo and hasn't done anything since

Some Blues fans need to start accepting Faulk as a member of the team. Overall, he has been nowhere near as bad as people make him out to be. Yes, he struggled early, and yes limited PP time hurts his value (for now, at least). Other than that one week wrapped around NYE (when the whole was bad), he's mostly been pretty decent since Thanksgiving.

Besides, I'm guessing that, after we repeat this season, he will be used more on the PP to puff up stats enough that we can expansion draft deal him to Seattle anyway.

Heh. On your team, he's not the back-up. I feel like we've done this dance before.

True, and I think Allen makes sense for the sharks. However theres goalies with better stats who would sign with us for cheaper, so the incentive to help you out and take Allen has to be better than losing a second rounder. You would be hard pressed to find any positive return for him imo

Perhaps, we shall see. But I'm also not sure how getting an important upgrade for your team qualifies as "helping us out".

Because it takes 4mil of cap space off your hands that you desperately need to sign your best D man?

This is also true, of course, but it's not a favor. You'd get something of worth out of it, too. Dude really seems to have found himself, his movement is efficient now. I don't like losing him, but necessity calls.

Agreed. I could see a deal being made, but I just doubt the cost is that high. Maybe the sharks would be interested in another player the blues look to move and the deal could be bigger
