Im assuming it would be since they probably won't let you trade CBO's like picks

Seems like the consensus. Who else would they pick?

Vegas probably won’t use one.

Stastny would be the probable one if they did off their current team.

But if like mentioned above, and you could trade for one, I could see them looking at that route. They aren’t afraid to spend Foleys money for assets as they proved at the expansion draft.

Why wouldn't it be? Some teams have more than one contract they'd likely want to buy out, if they can only do one and every team gets one, TO could gain an asset by bailing out one of those teams.

COL would trade to use it. They got Grubauer for a 2nd for taking Orpik, who then turned around and re-signed with WAs at a lower number because he was bought out by COL. Can’t re-sign with the team that bought you out for 12 months is the only rule I am aware of.

As would Anaheim. Backes only costs us $2.5 million in real money and he's still a serviceable fourth-line center.

Use it on Skinner, after you guarantee 9m for 6 years for Hall.

that’s very tempting but the sabres are dying to get okposo off the cap. 6m for a concussion prone fourth liner or 9m for a 30 goal scorer who had a down year. i’m gonna erase the 6m every time.

Oh yes. The contract is just insanely bad. I think he's 6M over what he's currently worth considering the way he's been playing for the last 3 years.

Our xGA/60 and GA/60 shows that he's not stopping the pucks. Same with Minnesotta, if they had a semi-competent goalie and a little more punch offensively, they'd be a playoff team easy.

Yes. Right now our cap hit for next season is at roughly $69 million for 16 skaters (including Backes) plus John Gibson plus Corey Perry's $6.625 million buyout payment, but the actual payroll is more than $4 million less due to the difference between Getzlaf's and Backes' cap hits and actual money. We have only two RFA's to re-sign and neither should hit $2 million. Since the backup goalie and the remaining depth players should all be entry-level-type contracts, we won't have any cap or financial concerns.

Where do you think he'd sign? I'm interested to hear... Toronto? Vancouver?

Western Conf. most likely he's always had great performances in Vancouver. But anyway, there's no buyouts anywhere near. People - and I guess the coaches & GM too - still think he's elite.
