That contract for Johan Larsson and the fact that you put him on the second line is a bad idea in my opinion.

I don’t think Larsson on the 2nd line is necessarily terrible. That contract is a massive overpay though and you’ve been really ineffective at addressing the Sabres biggest issues which are

A) lack of offense depth at all
B) poor goaltending.

The defense is an obvious strength.
The moves are obvious
A) trade Risto for offense
B) use cap space to acquire scoring F’s
C) get a legit #1 UFA goaltender.
D) Deal Mittelstadt/Tage/Montour before their value tanks.

I think now is the most inopportune time for risky ideas, it is necessary to make the most safe moves and strengthen the roster in almost all positions.

It is unlikely that we will see more Pilut in Buffalo.

Larsson was extremely good (offensively and defensively) with skinner. Hes never going to put up points but if used correctly with skinner and a sort of playmaker on the RW they would create a very good 2nd line. Eichel doesn't really need Reinhart so that could be a fit. MoJo is also very good at creating off the wall and setting guys up in the slot so either could be a fit.

If they're able to find another offensive 3c or have Cozens step in they will be set. MoJo isnt the 3c though.

The leafs dont need Montour but Johnsson would be perfect for Buffalo. Buffalo's problem here is the 2nd pair with Risto being atrocious and Pilut going to the KHL but there could be replacements

If Larson is your 2C... this team will have major issues. Another year sabres miss the playoffs, and Eichal will finally be so fed up he’ll actually demand for a trade in summer 2021. This team can’t afford to miss the playoffs again

I love Larsson and Girgensons, they have magnetic sticks that attract pucks and make it difficult to take it off of their sticks.
I think they will playing somewhere other than buffalo as Buffalo cannot afford to have $11,000,000 of cap space playing fourth line minutes.
