Buffalo Reconstruction

Created by: Survivorking77
Team: 2020-21 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 9, 2020
Published: Jun. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My attempt at reconstructing Buffalo to what I think are realistic options.

Depth forward signings that are slight overpays to get guys to come to a losing environment but likely have few options if they have any at all. Allows the young guys like Cozens and Asplund to develop properly rather than rush them to the NHL. Reasoning for trades are in the trade details.

I will add, I like Gagner as a fit for Buffalo. Gets him close to home (Toronto) and he is a PP specialist that could help a guy like Mittlestadst with his experience.

That is true...I did not consider the NMC.

If Buffalo retains to make the money even, then Ladd for Okposo could be interesting I guess.

I would add some sweetener to Risto to get Kapanen, not Johnsson.

I would think the Islanders would actually say yes to this. Kyle isn't what he was, but at least he can play every day and can maybe find his form again with guys he's familiar with.

Yeah. A top pairing, 40 point, right shot defenseman. What a scrub.

In Buffalo and about half his points come on the PP which he would be lucky to get 2nd unit time in TO. He's a bottom 4 defender at even strength. No thanks.

Retain 500k on Okposo so the contract match and maybe. Ladd is closer to LTIR territory so I'm hesitant to move him. CBO could change things significantly though

I don't even think they have to. Think of it as $6M for a guy who plays every day vs. a guy who barely plays at $4.4Mish. I would do it straight up.
