Montreal offer

Description
Saw this from an MTL perspective. As much hate I would hate to trade Ehlers ("RiStO fOr EhLeRs" still makes me giggle) you have to trade quality to get quality and the Jets have a lot of great wingers. I guess it would be dependant on if Domi could thrive as a full time C. And as great of a line as Laine/Domi/Ehlers would be, I don't see a world where the Jets could acquire this package and not give up one of Connor/Ehlers/Laine.
This roster is very solid and should be competing for at least a playoff spot. I even think with some good fortune, they would have the chance to make a solid run at it.
This also allows the Jets to protect Schief/Wheels/KC/Laine/Domi/Rosy/Copp/JMo/Pionk/DeMelo/Helly from Seattle. Petry is a very good d-man and can be used as a stop gap to hold the fort for Heinola/Samberg to hopefully jump in. Then there should also be $ for Laine/Pionk/Copp raises, and Gus can hopefully step into that 4C spot with Lowry being a UFA (assuming they don't have the room to bring him back, maybe they'll try to).
Let me know what you think!

Domi for Ehlers is fair enough.

But I don't see Montreal trading Petry for Stanley and a cap dump.

They could probably get a 1st + 2nd for Petry as a one year rental and Stanley's value has declined to a 2nd at this point.

Not a fan of Domi at all. That said this is a lopsided deal in the Jets favour. The Jets are fine once they plug the holes on RHD.

If it helps, this was a deal suggested by an MTL fan (read description) so I was just going off of that.

No thanks. Domi is almost has good as Ehlers.even if I think Domi and petry will stay in MTL, your offer is way off and favors the jets .

yes it was made by a MTL fan but with zero hockey knowledge, so you cant take that in consideration
he traded Lehkonen ( solid 3rd liner ) vs a 7th dman ... plus that deal and another one I cant remember

I’m a Domi lover he’s a great player who brings a lot to the table. However I see him as more of a winger with the habs and it’s not because he can’t play the position it’s just that I value Suzuki more as a centre than Domi. If Domi gets moved it should be for Top 4 young D or top 6 winger. Ehlers would be a great fit in Montreal, and I think the value is there that it’s a 1 for 1 trade. Ehlers May have a slight edge but we’re trading a winger for a centre which should balance it out and Domi should be extended for a reasonable price.

MTL says no, Domi and a lower pick would be enough for Ehlers...he isn't a ton better than Domi over his career so far, Ehlers has 6 more GP with 6pts more than Domi so its really not that much a diff in player Ehlers just has more goals than Domi but Domi has more assists so they're pretty even players.
Perreault is a cap dump and Stanley isn't a proven NHLER yet so those 2 for a top 4 RD in Petry is a hard no.

Domi for Ehlers is fine. That way Winnipeg gets the C they need, and the habs get someone who is effective on the wing. But Petry isn’t available. Without Petry our team would fall apart, and we currently have no RHD that could take his spot, even in the prime of their careers. We’re not interested in trading him at all.

I would do a Domi for Ehlers trade but I total agree that Petry is not available.
