NSH declines. The prospects are meh and Ghost is not the kind of defenseman that NSH needs.

Sabres don't need LW's one of the few positions they have depth.

You Patrick will be ready for 2020-21???
If you do, I still your overpaying a guy that has not played a full season.

Leafs consider, but Kappy is one of our only true 2WF so although the value is there we decline... good offer though I can see most leafs fans taking it

JVR doesn't make sense for the Sabres, and we aren't giving up on Mittelstadt this quick. No thanks.

Doesn't make sense to add a 2020 1st round pick to Laughton for a marginal upgrade in Kapanen.

Why are we adding a first to Laughton for Kap. I like Kap and would love to have him but that’s too steep a price.

Agreed. That offer is gonna cut it. For what it would cost I’m not sure it’s worth it as our LD depth is deep and our top 2 defensive prospects both are lefties.

If that offer comes through, I would expect Dubas to take it and Chuck Fletcher to hold a press conference publicly apologizing to Flyer fans...and I am a Leaf fan....Kappy's value in this situation should be either a low 1st or Laughton and a 3rd.

The key is length for Patrick. Its a lot based on Patrick missing this season, but its 4 years for a guy who would've been around 35-45 pts, if healthy.

It is a slight overpayment, but its to get the deal done. Laughton with his two-way play, physicality and grit is more of what TOR needs, but I really want Kapanen. Laughton is a 2.3mil on expiring deal, and the salaries at re-signing are probably level. Overpayment yes, but a definitive 3rd liner for Laughton a bottom 6 guy, if not 4th line, who plays a position we have depth at (Patrick, frost, bunnaman, rubtsov, vorobyev, tanner, O'Brien, etc...)

To me its more about moving JVR and his salray, the return is meh, with McCabe being on the last end of his deal and expansion coming and Mittlestadt closer to bust than home run. JVR while overpaid by 1-1.5mil is a safe bet for 20-25 goals and a solid winger for a stellar centre. (Although not a good fit, I don't think the return is out of line, and JVR with an Eichel or Macdavid, as we saw in TOR, is more of a 30-35 goal guy, but admittedly maybe BUF is not the place).
