I don’t think Crouse is worth a 1st. Perhaps a 3rd at best.

Doesn't make sense for Philadelphia to move a 1st round pick for a marginal upgrade of Laughton to Kapanen.

Ok... which doesn't make a trade between a 3rd liner and a first and a low top 6 guy a good one

If Laughton is removed, then this trade is perfect.

Not really. Let me make a comparable for you. You might disagree. Muzzin=Pesce, and Nylander=Teuvo. Would you do a Teuvo for Muzzin? I wouldn't if I were you. So I also decline a Nylander for Pesce. It's a bit close, but I would pass and I know sure as heck Dubas does too.

Teuvo is better than Nylander when you compare their defensive aspects as well as their offensive production. As for Muzzin and Pesce, Pesce is younger, better, on a steal of a contract and has term left. Not 1 or 2 years, but 4 full years at a little more than 4 mil? It costs about this for him. It's really close value wise, and I'd imagine if Martinook wasn't an "A" Carolina would really have to consider this as a Pesce trade.

Tl:dr
TT > Nylander
Pesce more valuable than Muzzin
This is about price
Marty is an A
Carolina spends a lot of time contemplating this offer.

Flyers decline, we don't want Kapanen. Not just because that's a bad price to get him, but also because there really isn't any room for him on the roster with the log-jam we have with our forwards.

I don't even think it's a bit close.
If the Canes want Nylander they'd have to give up Pesce + a high pick and a prospect.
Pesce, along with a few other RD, is overvalued. He's a good player, but he isn't worth Nylander.

Really hard to envision the trade market adjusting to have a well-rounded and proven RHD + high draft pick + prospect for a top-six forward. Pesce may be overvalued, but it's hard to see Carolina believing that Nylander would be worth however they value Pesce in addition to a pick and a prospect. Even assuming that's what it would take, no incentive for Carolina to make that trade. Good, relatively young RHD with term and low cap hit are more scarce than young top-six wingers with term and low cap hit.
