Saad would be an excellent pick up for the Oilers but if we get him we probably lose RNH for cap reasons. I would rather have RNH then Saad any day.

Having RNH certainly helps with center depth. That’s always a necessity. If it ultimately boils down to either Saad and losing a 1st or RNH and having that 1st, yea, keeping the latter probably makes most sense for Edmonton at present.

My days as a Wild fan would be over if they traded Brodin for that!

-Smokingun hit the nail on the head on the Edm trade

-I like the Kap for Murphy swap but feel like either Chicago adds or Toronto looks elsewhere

- I thought they fired Fenton 🤔

-Did the Rangers hire Fenton 🤔

You mean Toronto adds....Chicago has zero reason to add to that trade.

Brodin trade makes sense for both sides and value is close.

Edmonton for cap reasons can't make that trade and that is fine as I like having Saad over JP any day.

You’re under valuing Kap. And the value is nowhere near close in the Brodin trade. You saw the 6x6 extension part right? (Not being rude really just making sure you saw it). I feel like Strome and a first rounder is closer. Depends on if Brodin’s value is as high as rumors make it seem, but top pair guys don’t come cheap

Brodin isn't a top pairing guy. Just because thats where he is up above doesn't mean thats what his value is to other teams. He's a second pair guy on 90% of teams in this league and hes really solid, but also has close to 0 offensive upside. Strome is a 23 year old 2C and chicago added a pick. The value is plenty fair. Wild fans act like Brodin is as good as Doughty, Ellis, Hughes, Carlson, etc. He is solid, but he's not those guys.

Fair. But assuming his value is in between where you have it and where Wild fans think it is, then we’re still looking at a first round pick. I could see the third rounder being conditional that turns into a first if he re signs, but if we’re talking sign and trade it’s prolly gotta be a straight first. Maybe a 2021 depending on where the Wild end up and if anybody falls. I feel like there’s a noticeable drop off in talent after 10th overall

The hawks right now have the 9th pick. We aern't trading the 9th and Strome for brodin. I wouldn't even make the 3rd a 2nd. The value is fair here

No, I'm not undervaluing Kap, you are undervaluing Murphy. Solid and reliable RHD guys don't grow on trees, wingers are much more easy to come by, especially wingers that put up only 15 goals and 40 points (that's what Kap was on pace for). Kap is highly overrated on this website for whatever reason. I like Kap, his cap hit is fair, and I see more potential but his numbers don't jump off the score sheet. Regarding Brodin, a Center has more value then a winger (like Kap) and Strome is a 50+ point player who turned 23 a couple months ago...those players don't grow on trees. Brodin is about to turn 27, he's a very solid #3 Defenseman but he's already at his peak turning 27 next month. There is no chance that Chicago would add a 1st...that value is way off. A 3rd is reasonably close.

Fine, we decline because maatta even with retention is too expensive for us especially when we're only sending back an ELC, happy?
