I mean thats a lot of value but Anaheim probably prefers 1 good piece and 1 good pick (maybe becomes a 1st if he re-signs. Funniest thing is if you trade Nino + Suzuki + 2nd for Rakell. That kind of reminds me of Tatar + Suzuki + 2nd for Pacioretty

That would be because there's a Suzuki in both trades

I think it is definitely an overpay, although that may be what it takes to get Rakell..

I think it's around the ballpark we'd expect. However, the deal doesn't really address our needs. I disagree with csick and don't view Suzuki as a serious target for us. If we're moving Rakell, it's got to be for help at RD, either in a straight up deal for NHL ready talent or a bluechip prospect. I don't think CAR should do the former, nor has the asset to achieve the latter. Moreover, I think you should keep Foegele. He's clutch and the type of player you want in the playoffs.

I'll second my esteemed colleague @mytduxfan in everything he says.

I think we would take that deal in a heartbeat if Fleury were right-handed. But with Djoos, Larsson, Guhle, Mahura and now the new signee Curran all on that side (plus LaCombe and Thrun in the pipeline), I don't think he'd fit well with the Ducks.

However, sometimes I wonder how these negotiations work mechanically. I remember that when Dean Lombardi decided to acquire Milan Lucic, the moment the deal was finalized Boston turned around Martin Jones and sent him to San Jose almost immediately, which tells me Boston and San Jose were negotiating contemporaneously. If we could work out a deal to flip Fleury and Foegele to Florida (doesn't that sound euphonious?) for MacKenzie Weeger (?plus?), this would be a great deal for us. In fact, this might be the best trade we'd ever made since the Pronger/Niedermeyer acquisitions.

Ducks would prefer a RHD. But that package is pretty nice.
