Why move Rakell for the two things we need the least in LW and LHD?

RHD, RW, C imo

LWers are ideally (No particular Order)
Rakell
Milano
Comtois
Jones
Heinen
Deslauriers

Obviously not all can play LW at once

RW probably (No order again)
Silf
Terry
Rowney
Heinen (I prefer on the left but he can play the right)

C lines up
Henrique
Getz
Steel
Backes/Rowney

LHD
Lindholm
Fowler
Djoos
Guhle
Larsson

RHD
Manson
Guddy
Hakanpaa

Top 5 Prospects (Not in Order)
Zegras (C)
Lundestrom (C,LW)
Tracey (LW)
Mahura (LHD)
Thurn (LHD)

EDIT: Not counting Comtois as a prospect for sake of showing more

I though Rakell was a RW? For 2-3 years now I've felt like Rakell could be a good piece for the Bruins top 6, but it seems we just don't match-up well for a trade. Don't have much to offer for RHD as McAvoy and Carlo wouldn't be available. Center depth we're trying to build back up and we've been looking for a top 6 RW for what feels like 5 years now lol.

He plays both, though I prefer he plays on the left and ideally opposite of Silf, if it were my choice those two would always play together. Rakell plays better on the left. I would only move Rakell for a package of a good young RHD prospect and a first (Timmins and COL 1st) is a deal I've seen tossed around on here I really like

Yeah I dont see BOS having the pieces ANA would want in a Rakell deal (Well, I should say realistic pieces)

I think that we did the best we could by giving you Kase for Heinen. I think you'll be quite pleased with that deal come April 2021.

Well, when I saw the Team Title, I expected Rakell for Pesce, so at least we all escaped that.

Two different deals. It was:

Heinen for Ritchie

Kase for Backes + Axelsson + 1st

I have hope for Kase, but Ritchie is meh

I was being sly. I've always suspected that the deals were connected. But we'll probably never know.

Don't forget Jackson Lacombe, because he's a sore spot with me.

Can someone explain what is the hype around Timmins? I see him listed alongside a 1st in deals for Rakell all the time and I just don't see why he's so highly-regarded. He's an early second rounder, but I don't see anything special. At best he's got top 4 potential, but comes with prior concussion too. IMO, we really don't need more players susceptible to brain injuries (Depres, Kase).

Yeah, Kase is a firecracker. That was a good deal for you guys. Hopefully your big boys can protect him from anymore concussions.

Ritchie is "meh". I have no concerns about him being a big game player in BOS. Good size and happy to get into those tough areas, but his skating isn't good enough for the modern NHL and he's too dumb to anticipate the play.

Kase just needs to stay healthy. Ritchie is just to slow and has a low hockey IQ. Could make for a serviceable 4th liner imo. I would have thought we learned our less when we signed his brother Brett....but nope lol

Timmins has become a driving force in the AHL, showing some dynamic elements and consistently making plays. The only real hole in his game at this point might be that he doesn’t have the hardest shot in the world. And on the scale of things that matter to me for a defenceman these days, a threatening shot is near the bottom of the list. Otherwise, he’s 6-foot-2, he has begun to fill out, he’s a smooth skater who will get more powerful as he gets even stronger, he’s got NHL hands for his size, he’s a superb outlet and seam passer and he has always been a mature defender for his age, demonstrating an impressive ability to read the play and pick his spots.

Yeah concussions could be an issue but he is a player with a very high ceiling imo, I would take him and a first in a heartbeat for Rakell

Agreed, I don't think Ritchie is a downgrade on Heinen or anything, just a different skillset. Both are middle 6ers IMO, but you get a little more skill and utility in Heinen vs. the physical presence of Ritchie. I probably had a longer leash on Ritchie than most, but the NHL has just evolved beyond his capabilities.

Fair enough, but this is all at the AHL level. IMO, D-men suffer the most from the jump to the NHL. We've seen that with Larsson and Mahura of late. I mean, I've seem Timmins and he looks reasonable at the AHL level, but nothing special and he hasn't progressed that much either. Kind of similar to Montour, but without the shot and less vocal with his teammates. I just don't understand why he's viewed so highly. Again, at best, he's got top 4 potential. However, he's not a bluechipper so the likelihood of that isn't exactly high. I see no reason to move a 1st line winger on a sweetheart contract for him and a late 1st. Makes no sense to me. If COL wants Rakell, I'd be demanding Alex Newhook+.
