i remember hearing about it months ago and man did they dodge a bullet. Ristolinen may have worked out but I feel he just wasnt what they needed especially if they were to lose ehler.

Chad DeDominicis who has announced Sabres trades, have always suggested that Ehlers and Ristolainen were involved in trade talks.

I mean, GMs make mistakes, but damn that would've been a bad one.

I think the mistake people are making is they are assuming these are 1 for 1 trades. Kap for Pesce obviously would never happen but Kap could be 1 part of a Pesce trade that would likely include other significant pieces.

and that it was a possibility

It’s irresponsible to claim Botterill turned down the deal,
especially when your evidence is only a rumor that the deal had been discussed
