Currently Detroit has a bunch of defenseman that play the right side and 2 on the left side. So I don't think Detroit is going is take on an extra $4M in cap to move up about 10 spots in the draft.

Russell plays left side so he could be a stop gap until the young guys are ready, but it could really go to any team.

I thought he played right side. Ok with Russell playing the left side then I could see this happening. Detroit does have to add a left side defenseman.

Returning to Edmonton would be the logical thing to do, since they have a new coach and GM, and they’re playing well, but at this point I doubt Puljujärvi does the logical thing. Unless there’s a problem with the players that no one is aware of, but I was under the impression that the problem was coaching & management.
