BIG pass from Carolina. The best D man in the AHL for two no-bodies?

They in fact both have bodies.

this narrative is tired. "strome is not a 60 point player"...just stop. no one knows if he is or not.
however, you just gave a "40 point" player a $35M contract - stop talking out both sides of your mouth...

Questionable. Rumours are Tage Thompson was a made-up player thrown into that ROR trade, cause ain't nobody seen him arrive.

He's not. He's been in the league how long and this year he finally booms when you put Panarin on his wing? Anyone who can't connect the dots shouldn't be trying to justify him as a 60 point player

Strome put up 50 points his 2nd year in the league playing 12 minutes a night. After that year he was bounced around and never had stability.
The past 2 seasons with NY he has line consistency and has performed. I'm not denying that he is gaining points by playing with Panarin but the argument could be made that if he has decent wings on his line, he will perform. He isn't going to drive a line and needs to focus on the defensive side of the puck, but he is a decently solid 2C.

His 2nd year, he was playing on Tavares' wing. So far, we know he's REALLY good at producing with star players.

I think Josh Anderson will be a more affordable target than Virtanen, you can also try to get Tuch out of Vegas.

Agreed no way Strome should be anywhere above 4.5 AAV

While I agree that Strome is more likely a 40-50 point player than anything above I have to come to your defense on the linemates arguement. Most common linemates were Brock Nelson and Anders Lee. Good players but not JT. He did average 15:24 worth of ice time that season. Following year however his most common linemate was JT and Strome had an atrocious season. Per Natural stat trick

Either you are signing Strome to less than 4.2m, or the rangers say the only discount from an offer sheet you’ll get is the 1st pick will be top 10 protected next year. Can’t have it both ways bud
