    Both bad trades. Raanta because he can’t make a save (joke), and is always hurt. So boils down to a second for Saad (which is really bad)

    Toronto trade sucks for us because the only thing of value for us in that trade is Kap... Johnsson and Dermott just aren’t very useful to us.

    Of course Kap is not worth more than Murphy alone, let alone a ~30 point rookie* (Nylander) and a 2nd round pick.

    It sucks for Chicago, considering the poster is a leafs fan it makes sense.

    If we are lucky Alex Nylander may be as good as one of Johnsson or Kapanen, and Murphy is good but I wouldn't give up on Dermot. A right handed defenceman isn't really important in Keefe's system. I'd say this is just an expensive way to possibly get a little better defenceman and a likely big down grade up front.

    Both Johnsson and Kapanen are useful to anyone. If they are on your 3rd line, then your team is stacked. I worry that Alex Nylander may not have what it takes to thrive. Dermot is currently not as good as Murphy but I think he could really come into his own. I also don't think what hand a player shoots is nearly as important as people think.

    Demott's ceiling is Murphy and he's not close to having Murphy's value today. Johnsson is coming off of a season ending knee injury that ended in surgery, and beyond that, he was on pace for 15 goals and carries a $3.4M cap hit....sorry but that's too much risk and not enough production when he was healthy. Kap is the only thing of interest.

    Murphy = Kap
    Johnsson = 3rd round pick (or nylander)
    Dermott = Nylander (or a 3rd round pick)

    That would be how the trade would break down. Hawks only have use for Kap and not sure they'd be willing to move Murphy for him, but would much rather have Nylander then Johnsson and Hawks have no use for Dermott with a logjam of 2nd and 3rd line LHD prospects (Beaudin, Carlsson, Vlasic, Gilbert) and players (Keith, De haan, Maatta).

    Mikheyev and Hyman are both super energetic and gritty players.. and they have Robertson coming up.

    I just don’t agree. Chicago just does not need to make these trades. They absolutely would not trade “Nylander for anything short if Kap 1 for 1.

    Thats just emotions though, its similar to how Edmonton fans still talk Larsson up so much. He was traded for Hall so he can't be a below average player, he has to be good still. He isn't and never really ever was. Nylander was traded for Jokiharju who is a supperior player to Nylander. You are holding out on jettisoning Nylander because if he amounts to something big then giving up Jokiharju isn't as bad. Unfortunately I think that just isn't going to come to pass. Expect a smaller return, he just hasn't shown enough at this time.
