Edmonton might bite if it's the 2021 or 2023 third rounder and some modicum of salary goes back to New Jersey. We're stretched thin for picks in 2020 If you go for the 2021 3rd, I'd prefer the Buffalo 2021 5th in return.

Any use for Chiasson at the NHL or AHL levels?

For the meme brother. But yeah those all look pretty decent tbh. I like that Murray one but not too sure about the Arizona trade.

We def have the space. (I was just trying to make a little more cap space for this particular roster) but IRL I think that they'd take back just about anyone depending on what else is attached of course.

Yeah, I was just trying to make cap space for ARI w out sending back too much salary. Any way to help ARI make room to sign Hall and improve that 3rd rounder in 2021! (which was traded in this particular situation. But obvz they wouldn't be making all of the above moves)

I think Lou says no, if for no other reason that he strikes me as a the kind of guy who will have no interest in giving Ho-Sang another opportunity.

Unless he can rid himself of some salary burden I think Holland say no as well. Even though Wood might be a nice addition for them, Edmonton doesn't have a lot of wiggle room under the cap. Besides, no decision has been made with respect to whether or not the NHL will honor the conditions of the Neal-for-Lucic trade, or force Edmonton to give up that pick under some kind of dreamed-up pro-rating system.

for the contracts:
Blackwood, Melo, and Galchenyuk would probably want more. Blackwood was very good for the Devils, Demelo will probably get more from other teams, Galchenyuk won't take a small prove it deal.
Devils say no to the Leivo and Dillon contracts.

For the trades:
I say Arizona wants more for Raanta. He isn't bad. Solid backup, and when called upon last season played quite well for the Yotes.
Edmonton says Yes? Wood is decent enough (lots of PIMs though), would essentially be a cheaper Lucic. Could easily replace Khaira. Seney could be better depth than Haas/Nygard
NYI say yes. Worse player received, but gets rid of a toxic player in the system.
And the Jackets say no. They aren't receiving anything of note back, and give up the best player in the deal.

Yeah, the Ho Sang one might be tough to pull off. There'd prob be picks and salary retention involved. I tried to retain on Anderson when I did it but it wouldn't let me for some reason? IDK thats where I would start w trying to get Ho Sang is all.

You won't be able to sign all those free agents. Soucy and Galchenyuk will likely get more. Otherwise, most contracts are at a good price/good term.

Idk if CBJ want to move Murray but they could ask for more, depending on how much they value McLeod.

Ho-Sang, interesting case, idk if NYI gave up on him or if he will join them for play-in/playoffs. Maybe he doesn't get a QO, maybe he does and get moved. One thing is certain, don't waste his talent on the 4th line.

Not sure what's Walsh's potential but ARI could get more?

EDM doesn't need 4th liners.

Unlikely to have that D but maybe 1/2 D will sign in NJ and having that depth up front is important.

Fitzgerald might want to be patient, sit back and see what happens. The Islanders may not extend a qualifying offer to Ho-Sang, and nobody claimed him when he went through waivers. New Jersey might be able to bring him to camp on a PTO.

Wrong.

Only the Yotes say no.

CBJ wins that trade easy. It's NJ that is unlikely to do this unless they extend Murray.

NJ loses the NYI trade too...

The EDM trade can be worked with, but wood for a 3rd is more reasonable.

NJ says no to all but ARI trade... which is not "Everyone" saying no. Give constructive criticism, yeah?

None of those FA will sign in NJ, so you wont have to worry about trading away Miles Wood.

As far as the acquisitions, I think you might be a bit short, unless teams are really trying to unload guys. Sorta got into the quantity for quality, which I dont think the teams involved would be looking for.

First trade definitely favors Columbus. Maybe I view Murray unfairly but even if he does give you top-4 production, he's only averaged about 47 games a year over the past four seasons and is a UFA next year. I don't think NJ win get enough bang for their buck.

Second trade is hard for me. I don't know much about Anderson so its hard for me to make a real judgement there. I really like Josh Ho-Sang and wish the Isles would give him a chance and I think he could be good in another organization. If NJ likes it, I like it as an Isles fan. We're getting a decent asset back for Ho-Sang rather than just letting him go this offseason.

Third trade doesn't look good for Arizona, although I admit, I don't know anything about Walsh or Groleau. Raanta is a starting goalie in the NHL, not an amazing one, but more than competent and while goalies can typically be acquired for less than a normal skater, I think NJ has to give up a bit more to get Raanta here. He would be a great add for them though and I definitely think its something the Devils should look into if they can get rid of Schneider.

Fourth trade is bad for Edmonton honestly, not a Miles Wood fan. I don't think he has that much value in a trade and I think New Jersey is better off looking to make a lateral move where they take back a similarly skilled/priced player or just keep him and try to make it work. It would be hard to move him for a 3rd imo.

Wouldn't a small prove it deal be the best Galchenyuk could find? Honestly I don't see him getting much more then a one or two × $2M deal, could be a good buy low deal for some team though.

I'm assuming it will a 1 year, 2.5M prove it. not 1.5 x 2

Don't know much about Groleau, but ik hayden is basically nothing, would rather just sign any FA to league min, and personally I have basically no interest in Walsh

That's going to be a no from the Jackets. We're okay with C prospects and have a ton of bottom-6 Cs so Mcleod doesn't add much value for us, and Carrick would have some issues finding regular playing time here. And the picks aren't all that great. Murray's injury history does mess with his value, but when he's on the ice he's top-pairing capable. It's not bad per se, but we can probably do better than that, especially if we can do some tricks with conditional picks in the return based on games played by Murray for his new team.

Fair enough. I was really just basing the return off of his injury history. I'd be willing to go up on prospects/conditional picks. Just curious, is there a position of need that Columbus would be interested in?

Roster #2C. That's pretty much it; we've got guys who can sort of fill in playing above their heads (Jenner and Wennberg) and we've got prospects who have that upside (Foudy, Texier), but we don't have someone who can do that right now and it's giving us trouble. We've got depth everywhere else - in particular, we've got so many middle-6 and bottom-6 wingers there's not enough room for all of them to play. That potentially changes if we're able to meet that need via some other trade (for example, if Savard is traded, Carrick would suddenly be a bit more interesting) but otherwise...

Picks this year are also of some mild interest, although that's mostly for extra depth players we've got. (Harrington is an easy buy, for example. wink ) Murray can hypothetically be had that way, but I'm not sure if that would be a route the Devils would be happy with.

Cool. Thanks! Yeah, NJ is set at 1C , 2C and even 3/4C its everywhere else thats the problem w us. I mean, Harrington isn't an awful contract....if it helps in getting a potential top 4 D in Murray I'd be all over it. Thanks again.
