Tkachuk+ and nothing else. A player of this type is too necessary for Buffalo and we would have taken it if ROR had left for Montreal for #3.

I could see maybe something like:

SJS 1st, NYI 1st, OTT 1st 2021, Brannstrom, Batherson, Balcers, Brown, Tierney, Daccord, Sogard, and maybe C Brown as well. And they take on the Okposo contract.

The trade only happens if Eichel wants out of Buffalo. Getting 2 1st round picks including #4 this year, Logan Brown who still has huge potential, in my opinion.

Sens shouldn't be trading either of those picks, let alone both. I'm not interested in paying the giant price tag for Eichel, when you then have to deal with Jack Eichel after.

He's a fantastic player. I just a team would have to overpay to get him, and don't think Ottawa is in a position to acquire a player like that without sacrificing the organizational depth they need to be competitive long term.

Also Eichel leaving Buffalo and coming to a non playoff team seems like a recipe for misery, and Ottawa would be well served avoiding that headache.

I 100 % get the not wanting to pay the cost to acquire someone of his caliber. I also think the "character" issues that everyone pegs on him is overblown. Saying he doesn't like to lose is now a bad thing? Totally understand that he would be in a similar situation in OTT but your post read like he's a locker room problem.

I have a hard time believing Buffalo would be willing to trade him within the division, let alone their own conference. That said, Ottawa clearly has the pieces to do it. Buffalo is going to run into the issue with the fact that he's a legitimate elite center, and those cannot be easily replaced.

Theoretically, the team the Sabres should be looking at is the Devils. The cost would be plenty steep, but the Devils are another of the few teams that could do it. They have the assets and cap space. I think it would cost Nico Hischier, Nolan Foote and the two higher 1st round draft picks in 2020 . In Hischier, you have a 21 year old that could live through a rebuild, Foote is also still young and has plenty of room to grow and those two 1st could get the Sabres some mighty fine pieces, assuming they developed them properly. Plus, doing this the right way, finally, could land them some cornerstone pieces through the draft. My sense is though the fan base is quite frustrated, as is ownership, and Eichel stays at least for next season.

The problem isn't that he said he wants to win, my problem with him is that he seems to think the world revolves around him. The whole Dan Bylsma thing really rubbed me the wrong way. One player shouldn't be making those kind of calls and I think Bylsma was a good coach, with nothing to work with In Buffalo.

Again, that was overblown and never proven. There were never any credible reports that he “ousted” Bylsma. You can think Bylsma was a good coach, but every time something remotely worked in Buf, he would change it. It was frustrating to watch, I’m sure it was frustrating to play with. Anyways, I don’t think he had anything to do with Bylsma getting fired.

Players of Eichel caliber rarely if ever get traded as the cost would obliterate the acquiring team of their top picks and prospects/players, only way Eichel would be affordable is if he was on a last year of contract to be UFA, then Buf would have no choice but to accept the best offer they would get like OTT had to with Karlsson and Stone.

I dont know if this is entirely true, it is certainly true that 23 year old franchise centers- probably top 10 overall in the game, who are under contract for 6 more years- those guys dont get moved very often. But if he were to demand a trade, its unclear what the return would be. Every day there seems to be fans insisting that he could be had for pennies on the hundred, while sabres fans want the lindros return. Since it would be open to 30 teams, i think if you look at your team and see 6 or 7 pieces that are clearly off limits, you can probably not bother making an offer. Gms and owners trip over themselves every july to add an extra million or an extra year in the awful game of ufa chicken, you are kidding yourself if you think somebody isnt going to put together a great offer, even if they are dealing with the worst gm in the league.
