1) feel free to send me your recommendations
2) yes Marner is better but the trade comes with 3 picks. Not sure you saw that. And if you feel the compensation isn't right then bump one up.
3) @firezfurx @justaBoss @JaredOfLondon @aadoyle
Same goes for you, I'd like to see your recommendations. Instead of being fan boys, I'd make the tough decision to get rid of Marner so we can actually solve the D problem. Raps won making that sacrifice.

Heres my recommendation. Trade him for something the leafs need that is close to his value.

Who’d you guys think is the better player between Mitch Marner & Evander Kane?

Marner hands down!!! Kane and marner are both elite but marner is a superstar with HOF career arch Kane lands in the “really good player hall”

Well they got Kawhi back, who although struggling with injury was a far better player then DeRozan. The Raps sacrificed their future knowing that Kawhi was unlikely to resign. The Leafs are doing the opposite here. The best analogy I got is trading Nylander for Ovi this offseason knowing Ovi will go back to the Caps after 1 year. (In general superstars in basketball are far more important then in hockey. Imagine if the leafs only had to play 7 players every game, they'd be SO good, right?)

Except with this trade not only do we get older and lose long term viability but we get worse. Kane isn't even in the same realm as Marner, and do you really think a 2nd and 3rd changes much? That's like offering Nylander and Kerfoot to Vegas for Stone, if Stone was 8 years younger. Kane also gets 100+ PIM a year and given the Leafs shaky PK it really doesn't make sense to trade for him of all people.

It's estimated that Kane's penalties meant an extra 10~ goals scored against the Sharks on a yearly basis, so instead of Kane being a 30 goal scorer he's effectively a 20 goal scorer and 50 pt scorer. That sounds a lot like Mikheyev or Kapanen to me...

Kane is our agitator and aggressor and he is our defender.
He will also keep players honest and not let anyone cheap shot Tavares Nylander or Matthews combine that with 30 goals is valuable...
but even with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd. And him for Marner isn’t fair especially when you throw in a pretty damn good goalie.

I think this trade is bad for both teams but favors the sharks

Marner for 3 reasons. 1. He is younger 2. He is better 3. Does not rack up 100 penalty minutes a season

Ok I’ll agree marner is better ...but not by the amount everyone is spouting.

Kane is:
he’s a top line LW and he’s checking and attacking top line players wearing them out game after game that leads to third period goals

He defends teammates and keeps other teams honest and in check... meaning guys aren’t cheap shoting our players Meaning his teammates are scoring and not on the IR

He scores 30 a season

He hits like a ton of bricks finishes his checks and fights when needed.

Again he isn’t the level of a marner.... but he’s an 8 to marner 9...(Lemiux jagr and Gretzky are 10, Crosby ovechkin are 9.5 for reference)

You're not accounting for the fact that an estimated 9-12 extra goals are scored against his team every year due to penalites.

And your not accounting for the 15-30!extra goals the sharks score because he keeps teams from targeting our top players
There are a hundred intangibles both positive and negative
But at the end of the day the sharks are immensely more talented and have a much better chance winning with than without him even taking into account salary

Well I'll put it frankly he doesn't fit the leafs play style and we really don't want him

We like having him... and the trade would hurt San Jose more then helping (we need draft picks and Prospect depth)
But to be honest, your team will never win a cup without a few talented bruisers like him.

We have Holl, Kapanen, Engvall, and especially Clifford who can throw the body.

Also once Hyman gets in front of the net he is unmovable. He scored 19g in 51 games directly in front of the net this year.

There all decent but all the guys you mentioned would get their buts whooped by Kane and none score 30 goals

Lol you mean the play stile where we get our butts kicked every year? Where teams can beat up our goalies and no one does anything? Did I mention Kadri is gone. Not sure you watch the Leafs, this is exactly what we need.

Okay buddy, Engvall was hot garbage in his last 15 games. Clifford will cost us a second to resign. Holl is an excuse until we get real D in our top 4. Seriously not sure if you watch the Leafs.
