Right now Brodin is a rental so I don't see MTL trading an RFA like Domi for him unless he's extended. If that is the case then a straight up 1 for 1 is probably fair but I don't like it. Domi has had one great year and the rest has been very mediocre. Brodin has consistently gotten better every year with the Wild and was our best D last year, so that's why I don't like it.

We could just offer sheet Cirelli and give up a lot less (trading Khovanov is a mistake IMO).

Buffalo trade is really bad, Zucc is at least a top 9 player, Okposo is done at this point and the pick isn't enough to make up for the $1M in savings we get from the trade. If they're offering Okposo and Mitts then sure, but I don't see that happening.

Doing 50 points isn't mediocre, its second line player, but we know he can do more like he did in 2018-2019. For MTL perspective, he's one of the more skilled player we have, he as grit and heart, the problem is he wants so bad to stay center and Suzuki is a better center ( defensively + faceoffs ). If Domi could go back on the wing, there will be no talking of trading him

But do we really know that? He has been a 40-50 point guy the rest of his career. At this point 18/19 was more the exception than the rule. If we trade Brodin that's not the type of player I want to see in return, or to rephrase that's not a risk we should be taking if we trade our best defenseman.

My opinion is any trades TBL make they will be looking to take back zero salary. The trade is pretty fair but it doesn’t help TBL with cap space so they probably decline.

He played with Lehkonen Weal Cousins this year and still manage to do 40 points, when he did 72 he played with Drouin Lehkonen Shaw, he drives is line, I want to see Drouin-Domi-Suzuki, or even better Domi-Suzuki-Caufield in 2021-2022. I'm not welling to trade a guy who MIGHT be a consistent 60+ points player just because he had a down season playing with a 3rd liner, a 4th liner and a 13th forward

Yeah I've heard that argument from MTL fans, but there is a reason he was playing with those linemates and its most likely because your coach wasn't confident moving him up in the lineup. That to me is more evidence that 18/19 is the exception and not the rule. If Montreal fans don't want to move him then that's fine, we'll happily keep our best D and sign him long term. Like I said I don't want to move Brodin for Domi.

He started the year 2C, but Drouin and Byron got injured all season ( Drouin had 15 points in 19 games before he got injured ), Suzuki step up like a real 2C, Domi cried he wanted to stay Center and wanted to play 3C instead of 2LW. So he played 3C, leaving Kovy-Suzuki-Armia on the 2nd line, leaving Lehkonen-Domi-(Weal or Cousins) and the 4th line was Thompson-Weise with whoever between Cousins and Weal. Losing Drouin and Byron long term hurt the team and showed the lack of depth, Cousins Weal couldn't step up, neither Weise Hudon Vejdemo. Evans played well after we traded Thompson

But if he was truly the 70p center of 18/19, that wouldn't have happened. He would have outplayed Suzuki for a top 6 spot and forced Suzuki to the wing

If Brodin come with an extension then I would do this. If not then there is no way you are paying that price for a rental.

I dont think okposo is done. We is fine on the bottom 6. Good dude good locker room guy for sure.
Buffalo might add an extra pick 2 4ths or a 3rd because zuc has more offense ability left. But the premise of the trade isnt awful

He's at best a bottom 6 forward, Zucc belongs in the middle 6 and he's a serviceable 2nd line player. I wouldn't touch Okposo and a 3rd for Zucc, it would have to be a very nice add to get us to even think about it
