ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Girard is more valuable to Colorado right now than Byram.

He's only 21 and is a already a No.2 Dman, and our top shutdown guy (don't let his size fool you).

Moreover, his $5m x 7 year contract hasn't even started and is already looking like one of the best contracts in the league, meaning that his value is extremely high.

Needless to say that package of garbage doesn't even come close.

And then leaving Romanov as a scratch, would love to see habs ruin another player's development

If you want to start a legitimate conversation based around fair value try an offer with Romanov + Caufield. But even then Colorado very likely passes, as they are contenders and not looking to rebuild.

Umm. The starting point would be with one of them, not both

If the Kings' pick dropped to number 6 overall, we'd offer it plus Mike Anderson.

You're probably right. But neither of them has played a single NHL game. The plus on either of them would need to be fairly substantial.

Hey thanks!

Congrats to you on successfully being an anonymous c@ck$ucker.

Avs are not selling off a young top flight dman signed to already a steal of a deal for futures

Explain how a cup contender and one of top team in the leagues trading a core player for a lackluster futures package is a good trade

The floor is yours

The floor isn't mine. Next time, feel free to just say the obvious first, instead of condescending passive aggressive bull$hit.

Enjoy your career as an NHL GM or jargon regurgitating blogger.

The Avs are looking good on left side D even without Girard. If i was Sakic i would take that deal and additional capspace.

Let's wait for Byram to actually play an NHL game before making such claims...

I like Graves and Zadorov on the left side. Assuming Byram at worst becomes a serviceable NHL defense-men, the left side is more than competent. The trade adds Romanov. Id say its a fair bet given there projected potential at least one of the two (Byram and Romanov) become a solid top 4 defenseman at worst.

If we trade Girard and Byram doesn't become a top 4 LHD then we would lack a 1 LHD and arguably a 2 LHD as well depending on how high you value Graves. Graves is top 4 quality, but he's more of a complimentary Dman rather than someone who anchors his own pair.

After spending over a decade trying to build a solid D it would be insane to give that up now.

If you didn't have a bona fide number 1 D in Makar i would tend to agree with this assessment. I know its not good to count your chickens before they hatch but adding Romanov to the mix along with Byram i would be confident in the left side. Honestly if you had Zadorov, Graves, Byram and Romanov i would be worried about not having enough ice-time to go around for all of them and having to make a trade. Adding Caulfield and the addtional capspace for a few years that acquiring two players who will be on entry level deals for another 3 years will grant seems worth it. As long as the cap-space is used intelligently. i wouldn't say declining the trade and sticking with Girard would be a huge blunder or anything. It would be more than fine sticking with Girard, but i think it wouldn't be unreasonable to Sakic to accept the trade.
