Not sure it makes Sense for Ottawa. Whoever gives Strome his next deal is going to regret it, because he's almost certainly coming off the best season of his career.

Do you think Staal who likely in last NHL season is going to the bottom feeding Kings and leave his team in New York when they might be good? No, Staal and his 6m cap hit is all yours.
It's really hard to figure out why Staal would waive his NMC for LA. Any insight appreciated.

Staal is probably like the 4th or 5th contingency for the Kings. If they can't sign Nesterov, or trade for someone like Hjalmarsson or Leddy, or sign a UFA LHD like TJ Brodie to a short term contract, then they'll probably consider a trade like this. Value seems ok. Maybe a 7th heading back to LA.
