My assumption is they will look to take Askarov if he's there.

Its likely Askarov, seems like the Chicago pick in that spot.. but if they feel like Blomqvist in rd2-3 is just as good selection, they might go with Lundell if he is available. But that would mean they are fully committed to Dach being full time RW.

Askarov makes the most sense IMO. Hawks need a goalie and Askarov is one of the best goalie prospects in the past few years, maybe even longer.

Otherwise if Sanderson is still available he'd make a lot of sense.

Could definitely see it being lundell. However, I have to agree with everyone who says askarov could be the one. Yes, goalies do take longer to grow, but the hawks have no one that can take over as starter after Crawford is gone and we already burnt a bridge with lehner. This may be as good a chance as we ever get unfortunately. No need to explain or list the recent 1st round goalie draft busts, I remember.

I think if Sanderson is there they take him, but a few people seem to think he is likely to go top 10, so I think we probably take whoever slips based on that

Lundell would be the next Toews. Trade Strome for a solid LHD and start Lundell at 3C

I hate the idea of drafting a goalie in the first round. I'd go with Lundell. Lundell and Dach as the 1C, 2C of the future would look pretty good

goalies are risky to begin with, I have never been a fan of drafting them high.
bottom of the 1st round tops.
I know there have been some drafted earlier, but it's such a risky position to figure out.

1 LAFRENIERE
2 STUETZLE
3 DRYSDALE
4 ROSSI
5 SANDERSON
6 BYFIELD (he should drop)
7 HOLTZ

That's my thought on the top 7

at 9 or 10 They will either be on the run at defense at
GRANS, GUHLE, or SCHNEIDER
or QUINN, LUNDELL, MERCER

I would say it's Askarov, Perfetti, Lundell or Holtz.

Whichever team picks Askarov is gonna have angry fans. But he's well worth the hype. In 2 seasons you could have legit #1 goaltending for 3 years on an ELC.

My (rough) personal list for 9th:

1. Quinn
2. Lundell (trade Strome?)
3. Sanderson
4. Jarvis
5. Askarov
6. Holloway

Drafting Lundell doesn’t mean Strome needs to be dealt, at least not yet. I’d stick with Toews, Dach and Strome as the top 3 centres and Lundell could be eased in as the 4C. JC has the option to move Strome or Lundell to the wing if necessary. Plus, Lundell may not make the team for a year or two.

It's not likely Askarov IMO. The kid is 17 years old and very likely 4 plus years away from the NHL. Bowman and the Hawks are still trying to compete now so they will look to a player that will help them next season or the year after.

I don't think drafting Lundell doesn't mean they are committed to Dach as a RW anymore then committed to Strome or Lundell as a winger. They will have a great problem to have with Dach (the most talented of the 3), Strome and Lundell.

That leaves Raymond and Perfetti. No way do Hawks reach beyond Sanderson for D. If Raymond or Perfetti are there (according to your list) they will take either one for sure.

Makes sense. I think all of those players are interesting. Holloway and Jarvis I would personally switch but it's so damn close.

Doesn't at all mean that Dach is a winger. If anything it means Strome is on the trade block, but most likley we roll Toews, Strome, Dach as our 3 centers in 2020 and Lundell eighter plays 4C, wing, or doesn't make the team

Yes, agree Raymond is going to be really good. Holtz is the one I would question the most in my top 8 in the description.

What holloway did in the NCAA was impressive for how young he is but I think I would rather take Jarvis or Zary ahead of him. Wisconsin was loaded. Turcotte, caufield, Kandre miller, etc

Is it asking too much if we drafted lundell and kept strome to play Dach at wing? Strome should never go back to wing as you pointed out. Meanwhile, lundell has all the traits of a center from two way play to faceoffs to possession metrics. I mean, is that such a terrible thing to try?
