I like the trade. Addresses needs for both organizations.

I do think Hoffman gets more, even with a flat cap. I'd say $6.5-7 million. The UFA pool is very thin with fowards this year - I think that drives the price for what clearly is a top 3.

Lastly.... more a question. Why not try and move Getzlaf?

He publicly state he won’t waive his NTC. Besides we’d want a overpay and I’m not sure anyone is willing to give up want we’re looking for.

Buffalo accepts but I don't see why the need to add a pick.

We love Henrique. It’s a bit of a sweetener

No way Mike Hoffman signs for 4 x $5.180m if he signed that cheaply he just stays with Florida. Hoffman will want either 4 x $6.5m or 4 x $7.0m at the very least.

Easiest pass of my life on that Hoffman contract, I wouldn't give him more than like four mil, he's not a big loss at all

Henrique is signed for four more years and when Getzlaf finally ages out, will be our only first-class experienced center. Ristolainen is signed for only two years and we probably won't have him after one because Seattle will take him in the expansion draft because we'll prefer to protect and then re-sign Josh Manson. That trade is a non-starter for me and always has been.

Now, Henrique for Jokiharju makes at least some kind of sense -- not that Buffalo would entertain it.

BO will not be a duck next season. His first pro season will be spent in SD.

Well that answers that question.

Not that it's a huge issue. Getzlaf has remained highly effective, to the point that going with a short term extension wouldn't be a bad idea.

Is that a joke? Getzy's game has declined hard. I love him and will be first in line for his jersey retirement one day but if his play continues to decline I will be pretty upset if he gets another contract from us. But then again I'm convinced he wants to play behind next year anyway.

Not a joke. Not saying he is worth $8 million anymore, but a 40-50 point season at 35 years old is still very effective. Hell, those are better numbers than some 2nd line centres in the league. Not that far off Thornton numbers at that age despite inferior linemates.......

Obviously his game is in decline. He's 35 lol. But if he can come out this year and put up a similar season next yeat, would a 1 year deal at around $3 million be the worst thing the Ducks could do? I think not.

Obviously I disagree. His point-totals look okay, I guess, but it's play that's striking to me. He shows a clear lack of effort these days and all the losing doesn't seem to bother him. That's unacceptable from your captain. I mean if he actually wanted to play another year at like 3 mil that would be that big of a deal but at that point I feel like you'd be doing it just for old time's sake. Better to just move on and use that money and roster spot on someone younger and pass the torch to the next captain.

I am a strong proponent of moving him now. But, as it's been pointed out he doesn't want to go. Which if your oberservation is correct, seems odd.

But, if he doesn't want to go, then make lemonade. Depending on the development of Steel at al., I would be open to a 1 year deal. Could do far worse.

I think he just wants to play out his contract and retire. He did an interview a couple of years ago that really made it seem like that would be the case.

Makes sense. Ducks won't be contending anytime soon. Little reason to contiue playing unless he leaves Anahiem searching for on last Cup.

Q: what's up with Terry? Seems like a valuable depth player, but I am not too familiar with Ducks' depth. Why sign and bury him?
