Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 14, 2020
Published: Jun. 14, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Blackwood could also just be a Lehner or Murray or any goalie that is of their ilk in FA.
Andersen trade only occurs with a suitable replacement.
I can provide some explanations for some of my trades but will for sure listen to any reasonings against them on all sides.

Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Formenton, Alex
  2. Gustavsson, Filip
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (OTT)
  4. 2021 4th round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
2nd becomes a 1st if Ott makes playoffs and Andersen plays 45+ games for NHL team next season.
OTT
  1. Andersen, Frederik
  2. 2021 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
This trade only occurs if we go out early in playoffs (play-in or 1st round) and we sign blackwood. 4th(tor) gets the conditional 2nd from ottawa to make up for quality discrepancy in players. Toronto gets younger and less cap hit in goalie (more secure? for longer). Formenton is fast and can be nasty could be a similar player to Kap if we ever trade him. Gustavson has some chops and has played in NHL before and will allow our young goalies to continue to dev in minors.
2.
TOR
  1. 2021 2nd round pick (EDM)
  2. 2021 5th round pick (DET)
3.
TOR

Habs will not trade Danault, he will stay in MTL. He was our BP during many games this year. Danault has chances to be a Selke finalist in a few years, which Kerfoot probably won't be. A 3rd round pick doesn't close the gap.
Habs also have no reason to do that trade. Why trade our best center for another one? I haven't watched a lot of Kerfoot, but I'm pretty sure that he will never be what Danault is presently.
I understand the trade from the Leafs side, but not on the Habs side.

I did make sure that some of the def metrics weren't super one sided. Danault may be a better shooter too which helps but he is also older and has an exp contract so will get paid if he is selke while kerfoot is under better team control and younger albeit not as good right this second.

In what universe. Danault not even close to marner and granted don't know much about those prospects but maybe caufield and first if marner is included and then I'd listen but even then be hesitant from what I currently know.
