Leafs would be absolutely mental to do AZ trade, and NYR would be absolutely mental to do the next one. Why do we need hall at the expense of tavares? Mikeyev is underpaid

I don't like to say things for certain because in reality, all any of us can do is have an opinion and make educate guesses, but I'm quite sure that Gorton would actually tell Dubas to go to hell and take that offer with him. And I say this as someone who is pretty high on Dermott.

You win with depth at center so trading JT to sign hall a position we are already stacked in.

Agree here: Tavares is better than Hall, and rather keep him.

But keeping this scenario, why not signing Toffoli if going for the UFA market? He wouldn't be that expensive. Exactly the kind of player we need in Toronto: reliable defensively, contributes offensively.

In his Rookie Season, Fox has already matched what Dermott has accomplished in his 3 Seasons.

Malgin is a fringe NHL player.

And considering it took two 2nd Rounders to acquire his rights, those 2 late Picks won't do much to help.

Matched? More like shattered, Fox was as good as Hughes and Makar

I was trying to be gentle, lol. But yes, moral of the story, this proposal is nowhere near adequate for Fox.

The Fox trade wouldn't happen in a million years. If the Rangers feel they have to trade a RD they will certainly trade away DeAngelo. The value for Fox just isn't there. I like Dermott and dont want to see him traded like almost all leafs Armchair GMs seem too, but he isn't the starting point for a Fox trade. Fox had a great year, plays the much more in demand right side and is on entry level for an additional 2 years. His value is through the roof. Malgin is a fringe NHL at this point and could possibly be picked waived at some point next season, so he adds almost no value to the trade. The Rangers will want to be winning as soon as possible considering they signed Panarin and he only has so many years left in his prime as well as Zibanejad about to hit his big boy contract. future firsts and seconds don't help them now.

Ignoring the fact that Tavares wouldn't waive to go to Arizona if his life depended on it, I wouldn't hate the Tavares trade in the long term. Pros are that it frees up a ton of capspace (which is wasted on a Hall signing), while not completely crippling our centre depth. It would take a hit of course because Schmaltz cant hold a candle to Tavares but i have always liked Schmaltz and think he could be a 60-70 point centre in the leafs system with the leafs wingers and offensive mindset. We still have a true number 1 in Matthews so the exit of Tavares wouldn't be a disaster. Schmaltz would remain in his prime during the next half decade while Tavares will be declining. I like Keumper and if he can come to the leafs offensive system and maintain a .915-920 save percentage it would be a nice stop gap to finding a future starter replacement since im not completely comfortable with signing Andersen to a huge deal at 32 years old. The picks in the deal Arizona 1st and 2nd, could be used as chips to get that next starting goaltender a la the trade for Andersen however many years prior using Pittsburghs 1st and San Joses 2nd.

The Blake Lizotte trade to the leafs is a meme at this point and i wont even address it.

The only way the Kings are trading LIzotte is if they're getting back a forward prospect that is expansion draft exempt. Make it a SDA and a 3rd and the Kings would consider it.
