ANA trade is meh.

You can bet they're not moving their captain for such a weak offer.

Don't see it happening, but NYR should add.

I can't see Fox getting traded, at least until his ELC expires. He's a legit #1D at 0.925k for two more seasons which is highly valuable

Nah, not really. Kesler's salary is mostly covered by insurance so they're not in a huge hurry to get rid of the contract.

I mean, obviously they'd like to do it, but not as an asset that decreases the value of their main trade chip for the next year.

Fox had been on 2 other teams, refused to sign until he got to go home and play for a New York team. If he ever gets traded, he'll be a locker room disease, crying and pouting.

Just imagine for a moment though.
Panarin-Zibanajed-Marner

*Existential horror intensifies*

Also a "fair" trade would be closer to 1-for

Kings are trading away their best bottom-six center from the last 5 years, retaining half his salary, and not even getting back a pick in the current draft?

Pass.

I think Fox is going to be a stud in this league, but im not sure he is ready to be the number 1 RHD on a team that lacks a lof of talent on that side. In a year or two he will for almost certain. He had Trouba and DeAngelo in New York to insulate him. He outplayed Trouba for sure but he has the benefit of having a strong right side to fall back on if he faltered. Marner is a 90 point winger. His only downside is his massive cap hit. I think the Leafs are offering more value in the trade, but the Rangers would still decline. They would rather have a low cost future 1 RHD than another 11 Million dollar winger no matter how talented he might be. If they have to they will just buy out Lundqvist themselves if they have too.

One of these players had comparable value to Adam Fox this year. The other did not. When you factor that one player is also 10 mil cheaper and 6 mil in cap space = a 1st round pick. The values get really interesting. Fox is pretty untouchable.

Every team has a few untouchables, Fox is one of them. Seems to me, Fox and the NYR had a fool proof plan for him to come home, which could be a major problem (loophole) for other (lesser market) teams going forward.
