I like the acquisition of Johnson for the Jets, he could work out as our 2C for a while

Why would Cirelli and Sergachev sign for 4 when they both could easily get offer sheet for 7?

Agreed, Tampa is in a bind. And that's probably what it will take to move some of those contracts.

I could see NSH accepting that deal. However, I would ideally want to add a scorer like Hoffman to NSH next season -- so if it's an either/or scenario, I would sign Hoffman. Hopefully NSH can find a way to nab both! That would give them a fantastic top 6.

Might be a flat cap for the next couple of season, So take less now. And get more later. Seems to be the way Tampa players are going now.

bc they dont want to leave Tampa, bc a team prepares an offer sheet doesnt mean they are going to sign one

also new CBA will come into play after the expansion, 3-4 year deals could potentially take them to a big pay day and still get their 7-8 year deals

In 2 years when their deals are up they are going to be up TB still has 58 million committed to just 9 players and Point would be up at that point. Any projection I have seen in the cap shows a flat cap the next couple of years and maybe an increase to around 84 million the following that's if this season actually finishes and if next season is a full season no new wave of covid next year. That does not give them enough to sign these guys. So at a time when these players are already having to commit a huge portion of their salary to escrow you are also asking them to take a significantly lower value contract for the next couple of years so they can be moved at that point. I call shenanigans

you can call shenanigans all you want. If a player isnt interested in signing an offersheet, they wont. Point said it last year he wasn't inserted in signing one, Tampa guys are all bought in so it could be the exact same of short term team favourable deals bc they want to win as a group.

also they will be losing a guy to expansion draft plus there could even be a Buyout as part of the new CBA coming up, you dont know what the impacts of the cap is in 2 year so shenanigans call denied

Point was given 6.75 per. Granted that is still an underpay but not to them same level that asking Cirelli and Sergachev to sign for 4 AAV is. I am very confident if TB held firm at 5.5 for Point that he would be wearing a different color sweater this year.

I agree that moving these 3 guys out for picks or prospects is the way that Tampa ideally would address their cap issue, but I don't see why Johnson would waive to come to Winnipeg nor why Palat would waive to move somewhere else.

We could potentially use Johnson but I'd rather trade a truck load for Cirelli as he would be a longer term solution. Knowing TJ has a full NTC, he would only be willing to move to a couple of teams and he will be turning 30 at the end of July so it's just a question of how long until the decline in play hits. As a result I wouldn't give you a 2nd for him, (and the picks would probably have to be from next year (2021) as we only have 4 picks this year already.

Honest question, would you choose to move from Tampa Bay to Winnipeg if you were him? (An American player, who committed long term to the organization and took less money so that you could have full trade protection until the end of your career.)

I love the Jets, but I would suggest that his best chance for a cup is to stay where he is.

words from his mouth that he wasn't considering an offersheet and only wanted to deal done with Tampa.
Only way is if Tampa traded him, they arent losing their guys to Offeersheets

Tom Brady stated several times in 2016 that he never wanted to play football anywhere else after he signs a 2 year extension with the Patriots. 4 years later he signs in Tampa as UFA. Just listen to any player in any sport that gets drafted they always say they are so glad insert team here drafted them that is who they were hoping would pick them.

Wow lines 2 and 3 really look like crap with those three guys traded, not sure you could still call this team a contender.

Football and Tom Brady 5 years....that is your response. What are you even talking about, there is 0 correlation. This Is about the Tampa Bay Lighting and their players and what they want to accomplish as a group that they have all been vocal about.

If your end game is to try to convince people that these guys would sign 7 year offer sheets in Buffalo, news flash they wont

I wouldn't expect any player to sign an offer sheet in Buffalo. Honestly prior to last year I wouldn't have expected a player to sign an offer sheet in Montreal either. Especially coming from a team in a no income tax state. After signing his deal with the Canes Aho stated BTW "I am grateful for the offer from MTL, but it was always my hope to return to the Hurricanes. We have a young and exciting group and I can't wait to be there with my teammates and get to work. I love it in Raleigh and I am thrilled that we can continue what we started last season." I wouldn't have expected Thomas Vanek to sign an offer sheet with an awful Edmonton team after a season where his team one the presidents trophy and had postseason success but he did. I could easily see Boston being an appealing destination for Sergachev where he could slide nicely into the spot vacated by Torrey Krug's departure. I am not saying that for certain these guys will sign offer sheets elsewhere but to assume that they will automatically accept lowball offers and then everyone else he took lowball offers prior to stay because they at least were given NTC protection are all of a sudden going to waive that protection to go to a less desirable destination because they are more concerned for the wellbeing of the Lightning organization than they are for themselves. That thinking just isn't logical.

The same argument your making for RFAs to stay in Tampa is the same argument why the guys with NTC stay in Tamap.
