I would happily accept that trade as an Islander fan, but there needs to be top-3 protection on that first, at minimum.

Can you guys protect? Or is the 1st you sent the Ottawa this year unprotected? If it was unprotected then a top 3 protection on the pick would be fair.

I don't see the space though with pulock dobson and mayfield

Would move Mayfield in a subsequent move. Could probably frame a trade with TOR around Mayfield for one of Hyman, Kapanen or Johnsson

OTT is getting our 1st this year if it falls outside of the top-3 (which is obviously not a guarantee but highly likely it will). So I would assume NYI is free to do whatever they want with the 2021 1st and various conditions if they traded it

Leafs would love a guy like Mayfield but Hyman and Kap most likely wouldn't be offered. Johnsson for sure and a small add on the Leafs end as well .

Johnsson and a 3rd gets it done for Mayfield?

Columbus isn’t giving 2 picks for Mittelstadt and Anderson. That’s a massive overpay for what’s looking like a bust.

I don't know about this from NYI. The last thing we need is RHD, even if Ristolainen is superior to Boychuk. I guess like @joshelkin said, if we can move Mayfield for a forward then this could potentially work.

It'd be better if we could do something like Boychuk, Koivula, and our 2021 4th for Colin Miller.

Collin Miller is also RH? Not sure if that accomplishes anything other than shedding some cap

Well yeah, it sheds $2.125M in cap. Our defense could be (assuming Leddy is traded and Greene is re-signed):

Pelech-Pulock
Toews-Mayfield
Greene-Miller
7D

What this could potentially do is send Dobson to the AHL for a year to develop a little more.

I think Dobson looked comfortable at the "end" of the season. I understand AHL would have been the route this year if it was an option. But I'd be surprised if it was in 2021 to be honest.

Dobson is ready, would hurt his development to go the AHL.

Ristolainen is a horrible fit for Trotz, the guy would be benched or play less than 15 minutes a game as he plays little to no D.

Isles say no to these trades.

That is such a bad Risto trade. Boychuk probably costs a 1st to move alone. Risto is worth a lot more than a low B prospect D who is as inconsistent as my golfing. Islanders definitely don't have a need for him anyways
