Gallager

Created by: MatthewsDynasty
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 16, 2020
Published: Jun. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Montreal is rebuilding.
Gallager is 28 and would get a nice return to help them rebuild.
It makes no sense for MTL to refuse to trade him.
I believe this is a fair trade and if they want a first they can flip the 2nds for a first

Yes, @keep_ups12, I know lol

Gallagher is the heart and soul of our team, even though he's 28. We won't lose him that easily.

Bergevin would move Gally for Sandin, but that's about it unless Toronto were giving up one of thier core.

if they were giving up one of their core, im assuming you mean the top 4 forwards and rielly, then mtl would need to add

Well Gally would have to be extended and then MTL would likely still need to add if targeting either Mitch or Nylander in that trade, Reilly would be out of thier price range even with Gally.

I mean theoretically they could, but the priority for MTL is keeping Gallagher around.

It would cost TOR a lot to acquire him and I doubt Dubas would be willing to give up much if he wasn't confidant he could extend him. In any case the price would be likely be the same with or without an extension in place since Bergevin would want his bases covered in the event that Gallagher didn't come back.

Also it would be hard for Dubas to justify the price paid to acquire a player in an area of great strength for the team instead of spending that capital improving areas of greater need.

All in all I struggle to see a Gallagher deal that satisfies both sides when what MTL want most is to keep him and TOR is already very strong at RW.

Because what TOR really needs is another forward. And I mean they really need to give up a young dman too in the process.

what a terrible trade for TO haha. your best prospect, a top 6 d, a top 9 forward and 2 2nds for a pure rental as TOR could never afford to resign him.
either way, this never happens
