You're right. They do. That doesn't mean give people away.

A Nylander's a Nylander, but a mid 1st could be anything! It could even be a Nylander!

I wish you were the Leafs GM so Ottawa could get Nylander for so little.

lmao. This is exactly that deal. Could even be a boat. Yes a first is nothing in this sense. This guy is 80-90 points for 7 mil with term. Van traded a first and a third to Tampa for a guy coming off a 47 point full season and that turned out to be a steal. Now double his offense for like 1.7 mil more and tell me you want to do this deal from Toronto's side.

Lol pump the breaks on 80-90 points

Hes never played at above a 71 point pace and he only has 4 more years, after which he will be UFA. This trade is nowhere near what it needs to be, but lets be honest there are concerns.

Did someone say only has 4 more years? Like that is a short contract in the NHL? Wtf? I will give you 70-80 instead of 80-90

4 years to a team at the very very bottom of their rebuild is a different evaluation

His contract will be expiring right when we are entering our competitive window

100% you decided a competitive window that management isn't planning for. 4 years is basically the end of Freddy and you have to run with him sooner than that.

Who is Freddy? Ottawa doesnt have anyone named Freddy.

Nylander will walk from Ottawa in 4 years, right when Ottawa wants to be making a big push.

My entire comment is that this is not enough to get Nylander, and I dont want to pay what it would take to get Nylander because of his contract term and UFA expiry status

You're talking Ottawas window apparently. I was talking Toronto's and why Nylander works within theirs. Signals crossed. If you don't want to pay for a player because four years is too short of a term, then you simply aren't buying for the next three years. This doesn't need to be a discussion if that is the case.

Of course Nylanders term works for Toronto lol

4 years isnt the problem, no team control coming out of it is. Engvall and Kapanen are more attractive trade targets

You are incorrect about no team control 5 years from now being a problem. But I'll move on. This isn't going anywhere.

No, im not. It would be a mistake to let the very beginning of the competitive window be dereailed by one of the top assets trying to extort managment.

I agree, its not going anywhere though.
