My thoughts were Nuge only has a year left and any extension requires him to be protected in expansion for risk losing him. He hasn't been proven to be a driver on a line plus Risto is still a decent RHD. Has Risto dropped off that much? I'm not in the market.

I would put JP close to CM+

Russel has a larger cap hit but salary is good and Benning is a good third pairing guy.

That’s horrible for the oilers!! Nuge is a good second liner, Khaira is a good 4th line PK guy, Russell is a good bottom pair defence man that can play both sides (just making too much money), Benning is also just a good bottom pairing defence man, and Puljujarvi which has a lot of potential, and has value comparable to a second or Mittelstadt. And we are getting Ristolainen which is horrible defensively, Hutton which is bad in net (would rather have one of Smith, Khudobin etc..), Mittelstadt which I said is comparable to Puljujarvi value, and a 2nd round pick. We wouldn’t do that trade it’s bad.

Khaira is too inconsistent
Pair Nurse with Risto then and you have a offensive D with a defensive 1. I think adding Risto adds significantly to the D than having Russell on the third pair.

No that’s still a bad deal! Nuge isn’t getting traded. In my opinion Hutton sucks, same as Ristolainen, and Olofsson isn’t worth Nuge. We have Bouchard, Bear and Larsson on the right we don’t want or need Hutton, and Ristolainen!

Nuge is a UFA too, same as Larsson. Bottom line here is you lost the trade badly AND you'll lose a better player to Seattle than if you hadn't made the trade.
