    He wont be going anywhere if he decides to sign a long-term contract... but honestly, other than Eichel, what reason does he have to want to stay?

    If I were him, I'd refuse to sign anything but a 1 or 2 year deal and would start making my exit plans. Even if that means leaving $ on the table this year

    A 2 year deal would take him to UFA, if I was him I take a 1 year and see if the team actually improves under adams, then I can sign a long term, if they don't you sign a bigger 1 year deal as buffalo tries to save face and you go in FA ready to get paid/get traded to a contender before then

    I believe that you're wrong about when Reinhart becomes a UFA. He doesn't turn 27 until after the start of the 2022-023 season, so a 2-year deal would be okay for the Sabres.

    That said. Buffalo shouldn't dream of trading him. He's one of the 6 players I see as the core of the team going forward (incl UPP). And the Sabres shouldn't think about trading Cozens or Mittelstadt prematurely, either.

    We no because hes reached 7 years of service, aka 4 years after his ELC expires, its 27 or 4 years after ELC whichever comes first, because the first 3 years after the ELC you have RFA+ARB years, also im pretty sure you mean UPL not UPP

    I didn't know about the second (7-year) condition to UFA. Thanks for the education.

    Yes, UPL.

    Sometimes both can be at the same time
    Draft-> 18
    ELC slide-> 20
    ELC-> 23
    4 years into UFA->27

    There are rare cases like drafted NCAA players and others but for the most part its like this
