When I see our prospects being NHL ready

Created by: Matteo
Team: 2019-20 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 16, 2020
Published: Jun. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
There won't be room for all of them in Ottawa, so they won't all be on the Sens, but this is when I see them being good enough to be in the NHL if they get there. Players in the AHL I don't think will ever make it.

You guys are stacked especially in the b level department. As much as Dorian gets made fun of. He did a great job of getting picks and trusting his scouts. Hopefully melnuk doesn’t mess it up.

Dorian is doing his best but with Melnyk owning the team what can he do. He gets them develops them and Melnyk pays for their ELC's but then after its like a coin toss will he keep them or trade them rather than pay them.

So far the track record aint good

Stone
Karlsson
Turris
Hoffman
Duchene
gone

Chabot got extended thank god
but was this a one time thing we shall see

to be fair, Stone wanted out, Turris was traded to get Duchene, an upgrade and hometown boy, Hoffman got kicked because of his wife, and Duchene was traded because they were rebuilding and it made sense to trade him at the deadline, but also, after the 2017 playoff run, it shouldve been going uphill, not downhill. Honestly, after seeing how Colorado blossomed after Duchene was sent packing, maybe he really is the problem wherever he goes because i guess he must've ruined Ottawa too lol

Dude this is such a lazy narrative. Nobody wants to admit it because of the Melnyk aspect of it, but the Sens did need to properly rebuild. Sens were a middle of the pack team who were able to play above their station because Erik Karlsson was a top 5 player in the league, and because Craig Anderson was capable of being a star goalie. They needed both of those things to be true to have a shot at the playoffs, but they were never built to be a true contender which is why the 2017 fun was so special.

By the end of the 17-18 season, there were two things that were totally clear. At 37, Craig Anderson was done, and that Erik Karlsson was no longer Erik Karlsson, but was absolutely going to be getting paid like he still was. If Karlsson has better luck with health, the Sens could have kept it going if they had been able to replace Andy, but with so many questions about Karl, trading him was the right decision, even though I think Ownership handled that whole thing in a pretty disgraceful manner.

I will say that there's no defending not keeping Mark Stone, in my opinion. He was absolutely a guy to build around as a Captain, and the option was there that summer to sign him to long term at what would been a discount compared to his Actual contract.

I could see Thompson Pinto and Gruden being ready a year earlier than you have them

J.C Beaudin this year? I saw him play with Belleville and he didn't do much or impress me.
As well, while all those prospects could make the jump this year I don't see all 11 of them being in the NHL at the same time there just isn't enough room to have them all

This is when I see them being capable of cracking an NHL roster, not necessarily when we'd have them in Ottawa. You're right, 11 players next season wouldn't make sense, so I see Lajoie and Beaudin being forced to continue playing in Belleville, as well as Chlapik and maybe one other forward prospect getting traded.

I'm really high on Beaudin though, I thought he looked good in his callups and I see him anchoring our 4th line for years to come (maybe not as soon as next season but he'll get there).

It's definitely possible but I think a year in the AHL could do them good and Gruden strikes me as a player who might need two. Also depends on whether Dorion signs Pinto and Gruden this offseason or next.

Alright I see.

I would like to see only one of Jaros and Lajoie make it up to the NHL full time this year or have the two of them rotate if not one stands out. Next year having Chabot, Zaitsev, Reilly, Wolanin, England and hopefully Boro back that takes up 6 D spots nad I dont see the point in having Jaros or Lajooie up there to sit on the bench.

As for the forwards I think Balcers and Batherson are pretty much locks for the NHL on starting night but wouldn't be surprised to see them sent back down to the AHL for a bit of the season. I beleive one of Brown, Chlapik and Norris will join them but also could rotate between those three of who gets the NHL time. As for the other forwards I see Abramov and Formenton getting shots at the NHL at some point.

I like your view on Branstromm. A lot of people seem to think he will be strait to the NHL soon but his size has really limited his game in Belleville and personally I don't beleive in him as a top defencemen as much as other do and wouldn't be mad if he was part of a trade for a better player.

I agree with most of this but I think Englund was the worst player in the NHL last year (maybe tied with Goloubef), so I'm hoping we just release him. This would mean that our D would look something like this:

Chabot - Zub
Wolanin - Zaitsev
Borowiecki - Jaros
Reilly

With Lajoie in the minors. We could also try to move Reilly to let Lajoie play on the 3rd pairing and Borowiecki be 7th D, but this is dangerous since if Lajoie ends up not being good enough and we have to send him down then we don't have a 7th dman in case of injuries.

Lajoie was terrible in Belleville last year and wasn't even in on the top pairing. I wouldn't rely on him at all for NHL minutes. If England is to go I think ottawa needs to aqire another NHL defenceman that can play minutes anywhere in the bottom 3 as Chabot, Zub and Zaitsev seem to be a lock to play the top 3

I would also add in there Colin white and it seems like duclair will get signed. I’ve always liked him. Happy he found a home in Ottawa here to hope melnuk doesn’t mess it up.
