You know Devon is NOT related to Jon, right? :P Seems like an awful lot of money to waste on a non-family member hahahaha

Saad is worth a 1st. Nino isn't super consistent, and thats way overpay for a third pairing guy. I don't think anyone envisions Strome staying on this team, but can't complain much about the center depth. We also don't know what Seabrook's timeline is yet, but he might be able to play.

TBH I think, and hope, Strome stays on this team for a long time.

but looking at different Strome trades make me want to... popcorn

Agreed, it's interesting to see his value increase on this site, seemingly dramatically during this freeze in play.

I think it's just returning to the mean, he's a good, young, 50 point player when deployed correctly.

When everyone thought they could get him for free it looked like his value was low.

I have mixed emotions on Strome; he's good but Dach is showing he is going to be way better then Strome. That's fine, but Toews is going to be on the team until he retires, likely moving down the lineup eventually into a shut down 3C. At he #9 pick, if we take Lundell or Rossi or Perfetti, which is likely any of those fall to us, Hawks would be silly not to take one of them over a guy like Holtz that might fall. If that happens, what are you going to do with Dach, Strome, Lundell (as example), Kampf, Toews, and Barratt (should be a 3C or 4C)? This could be very realistic a year from now, so trading Strome this season may make sense depending on who we draft and what Barratt looks like going into preseason and in the AHL. GMs are always thinking, or should be at least, current season and one season out.

Agree 100% on wanting Strome to stick with the Hawks for a long time. I’d still sign Strome to a 3 year bridge deal, but he’s absolutely worth keeping around.
