Team: 2020-21 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 12, 2020
Published: Jun. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Left all the kids in the ahl for one last tank before busting off, it allows the team to have the kids start down there and trade off players like nemeth, green, fil, and Bernier at the deadline.

Edmonton moves a d and a bottom 6 forward prospect for a bottom 6 forward at a reduced rate and a 4th liner/ahl type player

Canucks dump 2 contracts but give up a solid goalie prospect, it’s okay because they have another one in dipietro. For a 4th line forward, a goalie prospect, and a third line D. Wings get a goalie for the future and canucks get cap space.

Lines I tried to guess on how current coaching would have the lines with this roster

I think oilers deal is actually very interesting option and could be doable.

As if the goal for them was to compete for a playoff spot next year... maybe in 2-3 years but be patient

not the best rebuild when you have eriksson has you 2R and baertschi has your 3R... namestnikov isn't a top 6 either

That’s exactly the point. With this team I assumed Ottawa got Laffy and Detroit picks stutzle. After that Detroit picks the top D in 2021 draft. Maybe it’s Hughes by then and they have there prospects come up in Zadina, veleno, Smith, Rasmussen, lindstrom, seider, and maybe stutz if he is ready. After 2021 season team then has Nielsen, and Eriksson off the books to start making moves

He literally said it was a tank year in the team description.

    Why can't people read?

I would simply say if the goal is to not do well, why load up on salary? just reach the floor and sign guys to 1 year deals to flip rather than multi year deals.

    Potential 2021 team:

    Bert-Larkin-Mantha
    Fabbri-Namestnikov-Zadina
    Rasmussen-veleno-veteran

    Veteran-hronek
    Dk-seider
    Cholo-lindstrom

    Demko-veteran

It’s not great but gets the team in the right direction

Why load up on salaries? To be able to get a guy like Demko as a future in net and not have to give up a pick when the team is building through the draft and not ready to compete.

I was talking about the free agent signings.

And if Demko is so valuable, why is he your back up?

I think Detroit should be interested in James Neal. I know everyone seems to have a hate on his contract however he isn’t washed up and can still contribute 20-25 goals. Got 19 this year most of which came in first half while playing on top six and pp time. His demotion in the line up was because of an injury also the team wanting a better skater for mcdavids line. I think he would be a significantly better fit in Detroit can get him for next to nothing. If it doesn’t work out expose to Seattle.

Because I blashed the lines. They would most likely have a 60/40 split with Bernier starting more.

Erne and fabbri are bridged. Namestnikov was more of a prediction, yzerman knows him and he already has a house in the Detroit area. Other than that green was signed for the deadline all other signings were for the griffins

I think the concept is reasonable, and I agree with the VAN trade (I've put up different iterations of the same trade myself). VAN needs cap space next year, and the year after, so parting with a G prospect (1 of 3 that they have) to give themselves around 7.5mm of cap space next 2 years should get them through the Lou recapture and the buyout (which total around 5.2mm).

As for the EDM deal, I don't think Russell is the type of guy they should go after. They should trade Helm (and Glendening) for picks with retention, and try to sign a guy that needs opportunity rehab (Tyson Barrie) for a year.

You overpaid Mantha and Erne. The Vancouver trade needs more coming back to Detroit. Demko simply doesn’t hold the value to take on that much in cap in a flat cap world. My Penguin friends said they’d gladly give a future first rounder to get Johnson off the team and I think that’s pretty reasonable and fills a body for us.

I’ve seen Mantha in such a broad range of amounts that I just stuck it at 7.5 just as an over kill. I gave Erne extra on the bridge as I think yzerman will give him extra for some reason. As far as Johnson I could see it too. I just chose Loui based on the fact we would get Demko back and it’s a western conference team
