I'm not sure that PHI is the best fit for a Gaudreau trade, but this is what I want from PHI.

"Konecny outscored Gaudreau" true... but PHI as a whole outscored CGY by 22 goals and the Flames played 1 more game. Gaudreau also shot 4% lower than his career norm.

Flyer ownership wants to be aggressive and they want to win now, Gaudreau gives them a top 6 of
Gaudreau-Hayes-Giroux
Farabee/JVR-Couturier-Voracek
The Flames don't want Voracek, JVR or Ghost either...

They also get up to 10 years of Gaudreau, assuming they sign him liken everyone thinks they will. NHL owners obviously haven't been making money and this move will sell a lot of tickets and jerseys in PHI.

For Calgary, I would be thrilled to have Konecny. The Flames need more players like him, even if it means a little less offence.

I’d rather have TK and the cap space to resign Hart, Sanheim, Myers etc. Goaltending and defense are bigger needs than LW. Regardless how good that LW is.

Konecny has more trade value in this market than Gaudreau does. Really hard to see them moving Konecny for Gaudreau when they can wait to take their chance on him in two years during FA, if they wanted.
