Buffalo says noooooo thanks.

Eichel > Aho
Dahlin > Slavin (very close, maybe not just yet but will be)
Then they add their best prospect, a really good G prospect and Mittlestadt hasn't been great but still has potential

Actual elite talent for elite talent deal, not a quantity for quality like what most fans are posting. Slavin and Aho are both incredible players that almost helped bring Carolina to the SCF last season.

Slavin is an upgrade on Dahlin in the present-term and is locked into one of the most cap-friendly extensions in hockey.

I know who they are, come on. None of the draft pick packages that other fans are posting for Eichel comes close to acquiring actual core talent locked up to cap-friendly extensions.

Duh, of course. I'm just saying, though, Aho and Slavin are not small potatoes.

no i honestly don’t think you know who they are. jack eichel and rasmus dahlin are generational talents. don’t even get me started with dylan cozens and UPL who are A+ prospects. get out of here bruh

Right but Eichel is significantly better than Aho. And Dahlin will be a lot better than Slavin is his prime. Dylan Cozens and Ukko Pekka Lukkonen are the Sabres best prospects.

Defensively Slavin is an upgrade but Dahlin is better offensively. I agree with the caphit but Dahlin will definitely have a better career.

Slavin is elite and Aho is close but Eichel is next level and Dahlin looks like he's going to be a superstar as well. This is just a cane fan fawning over his own players.

Dahlin is next level across the board. Slavin is terrific though, possibly the best defenceman in the metro.

Dahlin has potential to be as good defensively while adding more offense so Dahlin>Slavin for sure. Slavins nearly half the price tho of what Dahlin will make

Doesn't matter, Dahlin will be worth it. Comparing contracts against guys in massive deals is silly. Sure it's great if you get one but it doesn't really matter. Just staying away from bad deals are the problem. Dahlin will never have a bad deal. Just like McDavid won't. Skinner had a bad deal, and many others

Dahlin isn't quite at Slavin's level yet from a defensive POV, but he certainly has the potential to be a generational talent. Slavin has sky-high trade value because of how cap-friendly his extension truly is. In a sense, getting Slavin allows you to get his elite play AND fit another big contract in to make the Sabres contenders. For that reason, I think that Dahlin needs to be part of any package that gets Slavin to Buffalo. I think that by virtue of both being PPG talents (and Aho's underrated defensively, particularly on the penalty kill), Aho and Eichel have equivalent trade value, especially since Aho's cap hit is a couple-million smaller for similar term. Cozens, Mittelstadt, and the UPL for Kotch/3rd swap are the pieces that compensate for the extra cap space that Carolina takes long-term in this deal.

I thought that the Bean/Samberg swap would be the less controversial one. I don't think that Samberg is ready for the NHL yet, and Winnipeg needs defensive help right now. Jake Bean is ready right now to play in your top-4. I think that him and DeMelo would be a very strong pairing. I think a group like this would be a vast improvement over the rag-tag group that the Jets had last year:

Morrissey-Pionk
Bean-DeMelo
Niku-Poolman
Dahlstrom

Wait a sec, you actually think this deal is remotely fair?
If you remove Dahlin and add Svechnikov it is probably fair

When your the only one that thinks it’s fair, possibly time to reconsider. You’ve admitted that Eichel is better then Aho so even if Slavin is better now and has a great contract, Dahlen’s potential more then makes up for the difference there. But because Buf is saving, what 5M, they have up to pay their 3 best prospects, one of which is a top 5/10 in the entire league, and one is considered to be one of the best goalie prospects currently.. for a third and a different goalie prospect. Call upl and the goalie a wash (they aren’t) no one trades their best prospect for a third and 5M in cap space. Your out to lunch
