I don't think MTL will take that - player on pace for 40-50 pts, bottom 4 potential D-man plus a 1st that will turn into Perfetti/Rossi/Askarov/Sanderson/Holtz

Leafs dont do that Montreal trade. Leafs are in a position where they want guys who can contribute now not futures. Other than that, you underpaid both Dermott and Mikheyev and have the most important developmental asset, Sandin, sitting in the press box.

Only think Toronto does that MTL trade at the draft and if a player they really like drops, say Rossi drops, then i think there is a chance Tor makes it

that's why its a good trade. I don't see us getting a Nylander type with a first. We need young RW under contract point producers. Should Caufield be a great scorer in NHL, his 3yr entry would end when Nylander contract is UFA. It gives cap flexibility.

Armia is a beast, think of Hyman. He is exactly what you need.
Fleury played 41 games for a poor defensive MTL team and was a -4. Defense, isn't that the area you need to improve. Fleury can easily slot into number 3 pairing and is still in entry level contract providing cap flexibility for signing defensively responsible Shattenkirk, who still produces points providing leadership for your defensive core.
Lastly, the first round pick, 8th overall should restock the cupboard with any positional player needed by organisation.
