Kapanen was 35th in RW scoring this year while never having consistent line mates because of injuries higher in the lineup but he would play 3rd line for 20 teams putting him at about 80th best RW in the NHL. Sure thing.

There are only 279 Top 9 NHL players(or playing in the top 9 anyway) so 80th in Right Wingers isn't very good at all...

I’m saying that you seem to think that’s where Kapanen is when in reality he’s around 40th best RW in the NHL

So assuming you think he's a top 6 winger, like most Leafs fans. Let's do the numbers again. There are 62 top 6 right wingers in the league. If he's #40 like you say he is, that really isn't very good either.

You’re goalposts for good keep on moving I’m not saying Kapanen is a top line winger but he is easily a top 6 RW

yeah, that's bad for Toronto.

Quoting: TheLeafsSeason
Leafs decline and block Adams number. I also think Adam is incapable in attempting to fleece the Leafs.

Quoting: Bf3351
Right because Kapanen, a 30-40 point 3rd line winger is more valuable than a top 4 two way defenseman with good defensive ability which is exactly the kind of dman the Leafs need...

I know you are a Leafs fan and you like to overvalue your players, it's just what you guys do and all you know but this is fair value...

Quoting: Bf3351
He's a top 6 winger who could have gotten 50 points this year and most likely will next year as well as a top 4 young dman...

Quoting: TheLeafsSeason
Montour is not the defensemen the Leafs need. Maybe for a Johnsson, but if we are trading Kappy, I would rather use him for a Manson.

Quoting: Wqrrior
why? TOR is getting the better player.

Quoting: Wqrrior
Kapanen has quickly become this website's most overrated player... overtaking Athanasiou and Kase from pre-trade deadline.

Quoting: Wqrrior
meh it should still be top 3 protected

Quoting: Bf3351
And Manson is a HUGE upgrade over Montour?

Quoting: junoandkeisha
Johnnson instead of Kapanen and it is a deal

Quoting: JaredOfLondon
this is hilarious coming from you

Quoting: TheLeafsSeason
Yes.

Quoting: Bf3351
I wouldn't make the trade then.

Quoting: JaredOfLondon
As long as Jokiharju, Pesce and Dylan Strome exist, Kapanen wont crack the top 3 over rated players on this site.

Quoting: Bf3351
Please elaborate.

Quoting: aadoyle
The issue with Montour is buffalo fans cannot decide what he is. Some say he is top 2, some say hes a bottom pairing, and a good amount think trading for him was a mistake. All i can say is hes an option for us to consider

Quoting: Bf3351
That's because Buffalo has Risto, Joki, Miller, and him. Those are all top 4 defenders.

Quoting: JaredOfLondon
Montour is 'ok'. He's an alright number 4 guy who is relatively useful in a few situations. He cant carry a pairing, he cant run either special team but he's fine with a decent partner.
Hes basically a worse version of Justin Holl at this point with significantly better PR.

Quoting: TheLeafsSeason
Would you trade Johansson for Cody Ceci?

Quoting: Wqrrior
leafs fans are delusional in regards to kapanen. i wouldn't drop a 2nd for him. his value is taken to an extreme when in reality he's a generic third liner with some fringe 2nd line capability.

pesce rightfully gets a boost because his contract is so appealing... and he's a top 3 defenseman on any team in the league. jokiharju is mostly just in the boat of "whoa we fleeced chicago", and strome... maybe, but he's also a center in a desirable position and age

Quoting: TheLeafsSeason
If Kapanen did not play the way he did in the second half of the season, arguably when Clifford joined the Leafs, we wouldn't be praising him this hard. In the beginning of the season, many Leaf fans were contemplating on whether we should trade Kappy after his horrible start (the stick toss incident against the Habs). However, to me, I feel like we are starting to get Kadri vibes with him.

Kapanen = 34 even-strength points this year (68 games)
Reinhart = 38 even-strength points this year (69 games)

Even if we ignore the fact that Reinhart got roughly FIVE extra minutes in ice-time per game.
The ONLY thing separating their point totals is that Reinhart gets power-play time and Kapanen doesn't.
Kapanen does kill penalties like a beast though (he also got all his points on Kerfoots line this year - not Eichels line).

The "Kapanen is a 30-40 point 3rd liner" comments are kind of ridiculous.
He projects to 60-70 points per 82 games on a #1 PP unit (and he would be on Buffalo's).
His stats were even better last year too.

----------------------------------------------------------

On an unrelated note ... most of the above signings are unrealistic ... Skinner got $9,000,000 x 8 years.
How can Buffalo get 4 (arguably better) forwards with better production to all sign for $5,500,000 or less?
Come on now.

Bad argument, Reinhart had a bad year. Try comparing the year before and I'll listen.

Pretty similar situation.
