We can't afford to lose Howden if we are trading Strome. If you took him out they'd accept.

Rangers trade is more than fair.

Boo. Ruining my fun. Y’all are just gonna stick him at 3C and he plays much better hockey on the wing

I feel like a proper Rangers and Stars trade should involve Strome, Howden, and Faksa but that leaves me nothing to improve the defense. I’d say go after Melo but he’s probably gonna have a nice long list of teams interested and I’m realistic about the Stars probably not being at the top of that list for him

First 2 deals would be great, Stars are definitely better. I think trading big rig and cogs will be tough, but if could get draft assets would certainly be a win. We have depth for bottom 6, but would need to acquire more on D if oleksiak dealt...which I’d be for. Re-signing Dobby could be tough given could be last deal of his career, and he may seek a starter’s gig. Not to mention we wouldn’t want to commit more than 2 yrs, and he’ll probably want a minimum of 3. Finding a replacement will be difficult given mkt.

Will a 2nd round pick replace a 65/70 points player in his prime?

If he scores 65-70 then you get a first. But if he’s that amazing clear some cap space and keep him

Rig is def movable. Cogs probably not. Part of me hopes maybe NJ takes them both for a late round pick (getting Oleksiak at a discount for taking Cogs). Dobby probably looks for more term, but I didn’t feel like getting cute with the backup goalie slot since that wasn’t the focus. We def need some defensive depth in the AHL, but Hanley and Fedun are both perfectly fine coming in if necessary imho

Thats the plan. We're going to sign him and we dont have a cap problem.

"can't afford to lose Howden" has to be one of the worst statements I've read on here.

No, the Rangers are not selling low on Strome. They'll re-sign Strome if they arent offered an overpayment - and this is an extreme underpayment for him.

Opinions vary. He could get more. We’ll see. Is he really that good or is Panarin really that good?

Has more to do with chemistry and thinking we’d get the most out of him with our best forwards. If this past season is what he is then he shouldn’t have any trouble hitting the 45 points to get you the first round pick
